I wish the episode with this in it wasn't the one that aired during the hiatus.

I posted some screenshots from the altchan thread, but realized they were blurry. Gotta edit them better and post later.

I really didn't like when he tried to kiss her, a kiss over paper is still a kiss in my book and she deserve to be called a slut

OP of the season

Bravo Ishiguro

fire near train tracks

suddenly Osanai calls him

there's a train noise during Osanai's call

She's fucking with him, isn't she? She would never be this sloppy.

Yonezawa, not Ishiguro. You got the wrong mystery SoL writer.

Jogoro overanalyzes the salmon pasta

"actually it just looked tastier and it was cheaper"

Oof

Kengo, it means that someone is following Urino newspaper to cause fires.

He does not understand the mind of a normalfag.
Also, judging from the conversation, Nakamura being a whore is the truth.

look up

The only time we seen him frown with her is when He got proven wrong at something.

This guy loves thinking too much. I bet in all the dates they went to together he would do this autistic shit too. Osanai and Jogoro are fucking addict

Good God this scene was tense

mpv-shot0019.jpg - 1920x1080, 235.38K

miniled

Get an OLED, pleb.

He's dating someone for nine months and he absolutely doesn't care about her or her feelings.

Fuck Osanai

Neither of them care about the other, both are just doing it to look normal. Nakamura wants to look like a normal HS girl with her HS bf, and Kobato's whole thing is being normal

It seems so.

anons actually think Osanai is genius

still luv me newspaper

Compared to Urino, yes.

Yeah, that had to be on purpose. It's exactly the kind of classic mystery cliché someone like Urino would leap onto and feel smart for figuring out.
Maybe she thinks implicating herself will get him to abandon the hunt because he's too smitten with her.

Kobato out here doing the actual high IQ plan, doesn't even have to move a finger, while Osanai is blowing some college dude off while he drives her around to burn shit

He acts like someone who read a "how to be a good boyfriend" book and based his personality on it when He's on a date with her. This is what happens when an autist interact with people. Osanai and Kobato is just a psychopath-autist couple

Maybe she thinks implicating herself will get him to abandon the hunt because he's too smitten with her.

Judging from the last episode, I think she's done with playing gf and now on revenge path.

but how would she know where the fire would happen in the first place if this was all a ruse like you think?

While Osanai is not Kobato tier, she's surely more capable of solving the mystery than most of the people.

Movies aren't shot in order.

Get fucked, Sherlock boy.

mpv-shot0005.jpg - 1920x1080, 209.75K

They'd probably film the entire convo in both locations, and not necessarily on the same day. Filming tends to be done on a set-by-set basis rather than whatever order of events the plot demands. Plus they can rearrange events however they want in editing.

he is literally me

his smile and optimism is gone

tfw your gf is futsuu (real) and not futsuu (pretend)

the silence after that made me kek. like he couldn't compute her reason would be "the picture looked prettier" rather than something logical

Cute!
And the bokeh behind her just focuses more on her cuteness!

I know. But it's funny to think that that crew literally took hours prepping up the location only for the actors to deliver their line in only less than an hour, maybe less than 30 minutes even.

Give her more cocoa

This scene lasted so long, pure cinema

lies and slander

only for the actors to deliver their line in only less than an hour, maybe less than 30 minutes even

The show has multiple scenes at the bridge you know. They'd be shooting all of those back-to-back.

and they didn't have sex even once? I kinda get why she's cheating on him

I just find that hard to believe but we will see, maybe this is a red herring and she was close to another train somewhere else or she just guessed the fire would be close to the train depending on the city planning.
But I still think the phone call is not a ruse, she called his retarded ass to gloat in his face that she was getting away with burning shit

she has curfew please understand

You're a whore so I don't feel bad about jerking off to animu.

He

Is Gigolo your god?

From the previous episode it feels more like he was the later addition, not the first

He's my bitch

why won't he get mad I was cheating on him and rape me silly? idgi

mpv-shot0007.jpg - 387x635, 71.36K

maybe this is a red herring and she was close to another train somewhere else

It was probably a different train track outside the area they were patrolling, but I still think she timed the train noise on purpose to mess with Urino.

or she just guessed the fire would be close to the train depending on the city planning.

Or maybe she knows the arsonist (or knows someone who does) and figured out that detail based on things they let slip.

it's called the thousand cock stare for a reason anon

ntr face

It took her 9 months to realize that her bf is fucked in the head.

This is genuinely the first time in my life I've simultaneously experienced absolutely painful second-hand embarrassment AND immense schadenfreude at exact same time. I didn't think this should be even possible and yet here we are.

What about the other two members? Did they quit when Urino took over?

Were they also third-year students?

WHEN DO WE GET THE SOLUTION

WHEN IS THE WHORE GETTING EXPOSED

God she's so high maintenance. The head better be godlike.

That was a nice episode, Anon.

No, because it wouldn't make sense that the first few locations aligned

>there's a train noise during Osanai's call

oh, I thought it was on his side, im retarded

wait, is she actually saying both this and disagreeing with him over the tomato just to piss him off?

file.jpg - 2560x1440, 1.07M

There's a guy who is weirdly supportive of Urino and knows everything. Would not be weird if he was the one who gave Urino the connection.

it's more so the fact he might've been at Urino's place and saw that paper. The point of that scene was to highlight how this paper could only be seen by Urino or someone close to him

There's really a finite number of ways you can arrange locations in a town. Urino managed to find an obsolete, six-year-old document that had the initial places in the same order.

I ain't buying it. It's technically possible but it would be rather dumb, there's over 9 locations, getting just 3 in order right through pure chance would be insanely low

Wasn't it only 2 fires before the first article? Also, he doesn't predict exact location, it's always multiple possible ones.

YAMEROOOOOOOOOOOOO

nooooo.jpg - 1000x1125, 264.35K

I think it was 3, fuck knows though

I don't think I've ever been more intelectually filtered by a show, that conversation especially

it's about sending a message

She's testing to see how he feels about her cheating on him and is shocked to see that he doesn't care. On the one hand, it means she's getting away with it. On the other, it means she doesn't matter to him at all

On the other, it means she doesn't matter to him at all

does she really care though? It's the second time she asked him why he's with her, I just dont get it

does she really care though?

I think so. After all, it's really weird for your bf to basically admit that he knows your cheating but doesn't care because he doesn't actually care about the relationship. It raises the question of why he even stays with her. That's why she asked him a second time, she doesn't know why he stays. Of course, he'll never say that she's his normalcy beard

Everything osanai says sounds incredibly seductive and erotic

Didn't Soremachi reference Yonezawa actually

Well Ms. Resting Bitch Face was the most useless member of the club

Osanal

NEWSPAPER CLUB ONORE

It wouldn't make sense. Jogoro's whole ambition is a normalfag LARP and what he was confronted with right at that very moment was a normie slut gf effortlessly humbling him by showcasing her own trivial thought process. Man has likely rested on his laurels, mistakenly believing that after studying her during these nine months, he has managed to rationally grasp the essence of normalfaggotry and consciously apply it to himself. And yet, at a moment's notice, he was effortlessly bested by her, despite her relying on nothing by natural instincts like a simple animal. To break up over that would be a sore loser's admission of defeat.

He has gotten everything off because he is a midwit in a high IQ series. Maybe the fires were started but using some trick. The first scene of the episode has a bag with some shit in it prominently in the frame. I first thought that this was gonna be the next fire.
Jogoro pointing out that Urino got an old station plan makes me think that Urino is being used by the arsonist who knows certain things about this fag. Nitta-sensei is actually trying to close the newspaper club by gaslighting Urino and fire everywhere.

I’m still convinced that is the reason she’s doing this year long arson plan

How badly does Urino get screwed over here? Framed for arson or just humiliated?

My bet is. She knows Osanai because shes probably mixed up in the whole firestarter thing and is afraid that Kobato is as messed up as her and she is afraid that he may do something to her. Thats why shes probing him.

Look back down

And yet, at a moment's notice, he was effortlessly bested by her, despite her relying on nothing by natural instincts like a simple animal.

He tries so hard and yet, the harder he tries to "become shoushimin", the further he takes himself away from the effortless "is" that is the shoushimin he wants to be. It's a comedy on a literally scale, a joke only an autist himself could come up with.

In the previous episode I was really worried for Urino and thought he had basically walked into a minefield without knowing, but last episode he clearly got too full of himself and actually gave Osanai a reason to be pissed so he ended up digging his own grave.
Now time to watch the new ep and see if I'm right.

Urino did nothing wrong. After 9 months of dating, the least she could do was giving him a kissu or two.

Shut up, Urino.

You don't need to be Urino to relate. And I say more! He should have started seeing other people to make her jealous! Two might be enough!

The train passed by the fire a few minutes after she called and blocked his way. I suppose it’s possible there were multiple trains but it does seem like a red herring.

Ok, Urino. We get that you are pissed.

Urino stop writing in that notepad you're bleeding out! I'm trying to stop the bleeding Urino stop struggling to get your phone out to take photos!

I believe that the place where Urino went first was the place where Osanai was observing the fire while taking to him. Or probably she was looking at the one who was starting the fire.

Those drawn-out silences made me chuckle a few times.

Osanai is one of my favorite anime villains

I (like Jogoro) immediately assumed she doesn't like tomatoes, but I didn't go quite as far as he did with justifying it. That aside, this scene felt like Jogoro's victory to me. He proved to her he's extremely observant and smart (something she noted earlier) with his little detective shtick, but also refused to address the fact they both know she is at least alleged to be cheating on him. She wants some kind of reaction out of him, which suggests she actually does care about him somewhat, in some capacity, or else she could just dump him. But he was cool and collected, and smoothly outfoxed her verbally so if she pushed the issue he was avoiding she would be the one who looked bad.

But then he arguably looks even worse (to her), because despite being so smart, observant, and deft in conversation, he genuinely doesn't know a thing about her and doesn't really care one wit about her. So she is the loser, not him since any attempt to harm or frustrate him has been foiled and she was reminded how little she matters to him. Incredible scene.

Rape her

Gigolo...

Anime only so I'm pretty much taking in information with each new episode, but I got a sense of deja vu with the setting for the bus stop that had been ablaze like there was some significance to this. Everything after that felt like there was something that connected Osanai and Kobato's time together (the van being an obvious one) as if to burn away any memories or sentiment which has been fun to follow. It'll be interesting to see how it escalates.

I was missing the threads for this show last week for exactly this.

start watching the episode

nothing happens

two minutes later the episode ends

I'm enjoying this way more than I should be what the hell.
Also I really like the use of lighting in the night scenes. The way he rolls up right into the centre of the spotlight to stop and answer the phone call tickles my autism in the right way.

spend the rest of my life in fear

I know we have prior knowledge about Osanai and all but come on Urino I'm clinically autistic and even I'm not this fucking dense.

NADO DEMO

The follow through on the Jogoro plan maybe leading to the reclamation of his club for a little bit, or at least having Urino step down.

clock

did it have to mean anything? im drawing a blank, I cannot come up with a way to start the fire a hour earlier

Somehow even Osanai's relationship with Urinal seems more genuine than Jogoro's does here. At least she seemed to have some kind of hope or affection for him in order to feel spurned enough by his going full retard to switch into revenge mode. In Jogoro's case it really does seem like the relationship is entirely a smokescreen for his shoushimin autism, like it doesn't matter what she does or says because he doesn't have any real feelings about the matter to begin with. Just lucky it was a two-timer and not some genuine sweet girl who ended up with him.
I do like we're getting some more Jogoro focus too, Osanai hogs the spotlight for obvious reasons but he's grown on me quite a bit as well.

The autist fears the normalfag.

It's a Tsukamoto homage.

there's no way for him to know or even suspect her. Only Kobato does and only because of the van + her being schizo enough to do this for some god forsaken reason beyond human comprehension. Literally nothing links her to it.

newest boytoy keeps flaunting his cafe knowledge that he learned while wining and dining his ex

been 9 fucking months and he babbles about tomatoes and that fire rumor on dates

Honestly feels like she's mad he's not down to fuck and that he flip flops whenever she brings up anything that'd advance the relationship. Like she'd be fine with him as a casual fling or if he wanted to be a permanent provider but he's fumbling all her shit tests. Not sure if she's dropped enough hints for him where he would have picked up the cheating without having to be out right told, so I can't say for certain that she's mad that he has no reaction to her cheating yet. Right now it's looking like it'll just boil over into a woman moment but I had higher hopes cus my menhera/yandere radar went off in the first few eps.

the harder he tries to "become shoushimin", the further he takes himself away from the effortless "is" that is the shoushimin he wants to be.

Story of my fucking life.

It's a comedy on a literally scale

Literary.

a joke only an autist himself could come up with.

...FUCK YOU.

The scene with Kobatao and his girlfriend is more interesting to me than the arsonist plot to be honest.

It's very refreshing to watch an anime scene where characters aren't just spewing out exactly how they feel and you actually have to think about it a bit

every episode this season has been kino so far. they go by like a breeze

I suppose it’s possible there were multiple trains

In Japan? Surely you're joking.

I saw that, anon. We're literally even now.

mpv-shot0012.jpg - 643x816, 92.21K

she had a train ran on her during the call

kek same. shoushimincel lost. whore won.

Framed for arson

This is clearly what Osanai has been setting up. Thanks for the spicy snack, asshole. Prison is too good for your ilk.
The only question is whether Kobato will catch on in time to stop her.
I saw someone describe this show as "Moriarty grooms her ideal Sherlock", and that sounds pretty apt.

At least she seemed to have some kind of hope or affection for him in order to feel spurned enough by his going full retard to switch into revenge mode

No. Her toy defied her, what would you do if your toy soldier just said "no"? You'd probably break it since its just a toy.
She genuinely doesn't care, sociopaths like her just hate not being in control, Urino trying to force himself on her is quite possibly the most annoying thing to happen to her this show from her pov.

Kobato

not really sure what to think about his relation with her. I guess he's pretending to be unaware because a normalfag wouldn't know about it? It's not like he needs to be with someone to hide his true self like Osanai.

KEKED AGAIN BY MY OWN DYSLEXIA

I can't say for certain that she's mad that he has no reaction to her cheating yet

when she asked him about the person who knows things she was alluding to the girl who told him about it so she knows that he knows.
Then again maybe it's all a huge ruse and she's acting like she's cheating on him including that rumor just to get some emotion towards herself out of him?

9 months and still nothing

it's weird but it's also japanese media so im not sure how important that is, we also haven't seen her try to get physical

sociopaths like her just hate not being in control

Which is ironic because she never fully controlled Kobato, but she clearly misses him because he was the only one who could match her.

Oh I don't mean for not knowing Osanai is involved in the mystery, I just mean for the whole "I'd figure I'd show off and impress her" angle after last episode. He has no way of knowing about the depths of her crazy but she did outright tell him he didn't like how unshoushimin he was acting and so he decides to impress her by doubling down.
Then again it seems to work for most normalfags so maybe that is the better way to go for most women who don't happen to be Osanai, fucked if I know.

did they...?

zz.png - 1920x1080, 1.85M

Is Osanai capable of loving her own child?

Which is ironic because she never fully controlled Kobato

You forgot the sweets tour where she outright pavlov'd him? He was doing whatever she wanted at any given moment, completely unaware of being played.

This is one of the highest IQ anime ever, and I mean that 100% seriously
I wish I could be like Kobato

she'd be fine with him as a casual fling or if he wanted to be a permanent provider but he's fumbling all her shit tests.

It's the other way around. She's the type who shit tests all her dates, but he's the first guy who just won't flinch and it's throwing her off and making her want him more because he's the first sincere guy she's ever had.

Not sure if she's dropped enough hints for him where he would have picked up the cheating without having to be out right told

He was outright told. He just doesn't care because he's only dating her as part of his shoushimin act.

we also haven't seen her try to get physical

That's a man's job. You can tell she wants him to jump on her in this scene.

mpv-shot0013.jpg - 662x699, 64.39K

He thinks she doesn't believe in him being capable of it. That she wanted him to be "normal" because he'd reach for the sky and get burnt in the process, so if he proves that he can do it it's all fine.
It's kinda what anyone would understand that conversation as without having the knowledge about Osanai being a schizo

No. Her toy defied her, what would you do if your toy soldier just said "no"? You'd probably break it since its just a toy.

This feels like that snow metaphor from Osanai a few episodes ago. I get the, but at the same time I really don't.

Somehow even Osanai's relationship with Urinal seems more genuine than Jogoro's does here

I think Osanai actually entertained the idea of becoming normal on some level before quickly realizing it wasn't for her. Whereas I don't think Jogoro ever truly tried to be normal. Put another way, I think Jogoro (subconsciously or not) knew his relationship wasn't real and was just a social cover, while I think Osanai actually tried to be a normal gf. The whole chestnut analogy was Osanai admitting that had Urino been really normal, she would've become one too. But because Urino was also a mystery nut, Osanai stayed her weirdo self.

completely unaware of being played.

Nope. They were both using each other. He stuck with her because it made him look like a proper normie, but they were fully aware they were both using each other.
The dramatic irony is that they both preferred each other's company because at least the one they were using was on their intellectual level.

Those are outdated gender norms anon, women are capable of being predators if they want to be.

You can tell she wants him to jump on her in this scene.

im not actually sure how to understand that scene besides as a joke with how she looks at the camera

the snow one felt like it's addressed towards Kobato and his new gf, but then again I guess it would also make sense if she wants to send Urino to prison

This is one of the highest IQ anime ever, and I mean that 100% seriously

It's one of the highest IQ anime of the last few years for sure.
If you like what you see, watch Mouryou no Hako.

I guess that's a reasonable read on the whole thing. Foiled by my own 'tism once again.

While it's definitely a big aspect I don't thinkg it's /purely/ a control thing for her. If not actual affection there's at least some hope that it could eventually become affection. Like with the chestnut coated in syrup analogy. Whike that one obviously has a lot of ways it can be interpreted I don't think it's entirely without meaning that she spoke about it to him, even if he wasn't able to keep up with it since he wasn't a Jogoro in the end.

No. Jogoro wants to be normal but he's autistic, he doesn't understand feelings so he thinks "what would a normal person do" without none of the emotions involved at any given time, purely logical. So he ends up with retardation like the tomato because he cannot fathom people acting spontaneously in the moment. If she were to slap him he wouldn't get mad, but think about what would a normal person do and then maybe pretend that he's mad. Literally a robot.

Osanai

she gave up being normal at the end of s1. The syrup and chestnut we don't really know the full extent of but she was talking about how she started to like sweets and acting cute after initially faking it to blend in.

extent of it

it can also be taken towards liking Jogoro or Urino despite them starting as mere cover ups for her real self.
I never got the impression she liked Urino anyhow.

They were "using" each other to try and get out of their bad habits together, yes.
Doesn't change the fact that Osanai manipulated him for her own goals for most of the show while he actually tried to be normal - when the show started she was already having doubts and gave up on ep 2 or 3 during that bridge talk when she vows revenge. End of s1 she just confirms again that she doesn't want to be normal and ditches him because she doesn't like when her real self's on display.

Its Urino's brother, isnt it.

Freshly fallen snow is pure. Any normal person would enjoy it for that reason, but Osanai can only enjoy it by tainting it for those who were too weak to beat her to it. On a more literal level, she get a perverse kick out of erasing her own tracks.
Compare that meme image with "It's not enough for me to succeed. Everyone else must fail."

he wouldn't get mad, but think about what would a normal person do and then maybe pretend that he's mad

D-don't we all do that?

The syrup and chestnut we don't really know the full extent of but she was talking about how she started to like sweets and acting cute after initially faking it to blend in.

I think there's more than that. The chestnut analogy is about how people can truly become what they choose to take on. Yes, Osanai initially didn't like sweets or cute things and now does because she's spent so much time doing it. However, the reason she said that to Urino was because he had the chance to make her into a normal person. She's the chestnut and he's the syrup. He had the chance to make her truly normal had he immersed her in normalcy enough. However, because he didn't, she's accepting that her chestnut isn't changing and is basically abandoning the relationship

I never got the impression she liked Urino anyhow.

Yeah I don't think she liked him either, he was just the guy she went along with because he seemed normal enough

I think she only talked about it to him because she knew he won't get it, she didn't actually want to divulge anything, just wanted to have fun at his expense, asserting her domination over him.
I guess we'll have to wait till the end of the season to know but the whole thing felt like she enjoyed the cake more than her time with him since we only ever see them together in the cafe.

He hasn't shown up, so fair play mystery rules dictate he can't be the culprit.
It's more likely that Osanai is using the stereotypes associated with the firefigher mythos ("firefighters redirect their fascination with fire towards extinguishing it"; "those who can't be firefighters start fires to be noticed by their heroes") to
In other words: Urino's brother is her convenient explanation for why Urino is totally the culprit.

This scene was so great. Jogoro is such a weirdo he basically did it to himself. He went on an entire autistic tirade about how he deduced her distaste of tomatoes when he could've just said "I thought you didn't like tomatoes since you didn't get the tomato cold pasta" and she probably would've responded with something normal as well, that she just changed her mind. Instead he did his entire autistic Sherlock spiel, he can't help himself. It's deeply ingrained.

Yeah, she's probing him, possibly for multiple reasons. I think she can pretty much tell that he does not care about her and has been able to for a while, so that's definitely part of it. Given the timing, it's also possible she heard that the other girl told him she's cheating on him, so now she doesn't understand why he isn't saying or doing anything at all. It does certainly show that he doesn't care about her, but beyond that I think it also reveals his autism to some degree since a normal person would likely want to rid himself of a cheating whore even strictly for personal reputation reasons. It doesn't look good to tolerate your supposed GF cheating on you, nobody wants to have the reputation of a spineless loser who allows his girl to slut around. In fact if he doesn't hold any affection for her, that should make the immediate breakup even easier for him, but instead he does nothing. He doesn't question her, doesn't attempt to find out if it's true, doesn't break up, doesn't tell her he doesn't care, just nothing.

She's probably at a complete loss as to why he's behaving the way he is and probably upset because he gives no shits at all about her after 9 months of "relationship."

it burned my tongue so now I must burn the city AND your club

What's her true body count?

nice fingers.jpg - 1920x1080, 701.35K

Osanai read fahrenheit 451...

Yeah, but not with Kobato.

No, its a domination thing. It's a common trait for psychopaths/sociopaths. She doesn't want others to fail or anything - she doesn't care about that, what's it to you if a toy falls over?
If something is hers, its hers. Be it a footstep in the snow or a person she gets to decide what to do with it and she'd much rather burn it than let anyone else touch her belongings. It's also why she hated when Kobato tried to talk to her real self. That kinda aggressive defensiveness about herself and her surroundings is one of the defining traits of sociopathy

It's a regional line (single car) at 11:45 at night. Maybe in Tokyo there's a train every 5 minutes that late, but out in the inaka? that's probably the only train for 15 minutes.

Jogoro has a case of detectivitis, he can try his best but playing pretend isn't his autistic superpower. OsanaI on the other hand is an expert manipulator, it's her bread and butter so it should come at no surprise at all that she twists poor ol' Urinal and his modest mind around her finger as she pleases.

a dozen maybe? god that's so hot

Mouryou no Hako

That show is so boring, though. It's nowhere as good as Shoushimin.

Doesn't change the fact that Osanai manipulated him for her own goals for most of the show while he actually tried to be normal

That's the complete opposite of what happened. Osanai was trying to be normal while Jogoro kept indulging his detective autism. She even called him out on that.

I'm so happy that we're back, bros.

Oh my god what if it's all a setup. The girl Jogoro asked about Urino was surprised since she seemed to be expecting he would ask about her instead. What if she told her friend to say that stuff?

What if she's not shoushimin at all?

pepe silvia.jpg - 258x195, 10.44K

Sociopaths tend to view their offspring as a part of themselves. So you can say she will love them in some way. Whatever will be left of the child' psyche under such parenting is another topic entirely.

Im not sure if she still aims at being normal after s1 though, so I took it more as just using him to hide herself, not actually take on that normalcy.
I suppose I've viewed her as too evil since things make sense this way - the whole fire incident as a way to be a good gf that helps her boyfriend out, at least before it spiraled out of control

I don't think that's fair, I mean he wasn't aware of Osanai's past and all that shit to possibly deduce she was planning something in that direction. I don't think there's any plausible way at all he could've figured out what she was planning towards or how high the stakes were.

Yeah the first night shot looked really nice for some reason. I think just it's just satisfying lighting that helps.

Kind of what I was getting at with "I get it but I don't. I can understand the reasoning behind it, but it's just ultimately not something I can "understand" in the sense of being able to relate to or emphasise with.

While she definitely enjoyed the cake more than the conversation I think the reasons are the other way around. She talked about that kind of stuff in the hopes that he would get it, but he was no Jogoro and just not someone she could really converse with as an equal so she ended up enjoying the cake more than the conversation.

Osanai was trying to be normal

when she took revenge on the bike thief and then manipulated Jogoro for the rest of the show? when was she normal at any point during that? lol It was Jogoro that kept insisting to keep trying everytime. She calls him out on it to show that their relationship doesn't actually help either of them in getting rid of these behaviors so there's no point to it. She herself encouraged that detective behavior with the whole kidnapping case though and never did anything to stop him whenever he got into it, at least for his part he tried to dissuade her everytime

if she wanted to tell him she would have, she was clearly enjoying him being clueless about the chestnuts

It's also why she hated when Kobato tried to talk to her real self.

Things that didn't happen.
Kobato challenged her, but she's finding out the hard way she prefers a challenge over a wet blanket.

Like she's basically testing him by intentionally spreading rumors about her own alleged infidelity? I wouldn't put it past her. She's always had kind of a strange vibe to me and I think at this point it's entirely obvious that she can tell Jogoro isn't your average dude and she's trying to poke here and there to see what response she gets.

100 men, maybe more.

He was playing detective in episodes 1 and 2 before we even knew about Osanai's fukushuu autism.
Given he wasn't taking their relationship seriously and Osanai was on edge because of all the bad things the bike thief caused her, it makes sense she also relapsed. Jogoro didn't really try after that either, so Osanai just gave up entirely.
TL;DR it's all Jogoro's fault.

Things that didn't happen.

I guess you forgot how annoyed she was everytime he brought it up? He had to butter her up with caketalk for her to answer anything

Jogaro (and the audience) being told about the cheating was such a cold bucket of water to the face that this 4d chess move would make me forgive it.
I flipped my assumption and tried to think of it as an otomege plot. Even from that perspective I still think he's fumbling her cues but I'm comparing it to something like how the beta orbitting sensei from Kuzu no Honkai won over the slut.

he's not using me for my body maybe it's genuine

he heard I'm cheating but he's still spending his time going on dates with me

You clearly have no idea what psycho/sociopathy is

I don't think viewing Osanai purely in the light of psychopathy is the best approach. There's plenty of overlap for sure, but ultimately fictional characters usually have their own specific mix of mental weirdness that can differ a lot from any specific "real world" condition. Hard to say for sure until we get more insight on what makes her tick but treating everything she does purely as a control thing seems overly reductive.

if she wanted to tell him she would have

I don't think that tracks. Even in a lot of her conversations with Jogoro she's the type of person that like speaking in riddles and analogy, who enjoys that kind of intellectual banter. This /was/ Osanai's way of telling him, but also somewhat of a test to see if he'd actually understand and be able to keep up with her.
Don't get me wrong she was definitely enjoying watching him being clueless, but I don't think it's something she did with that as the sole outcome in mind.

Yes. Yonezawa and Ishiguro are friends, or at the very least peers.

Caught up with the anime while the site was down and I know I'm about a year late to the party, but there's something that bugs me about this reasoning but I'm not quite sure what well enough to articulate it.

What she wanted was for him to understand, not for her to tell him herself.

there's something that bugs me about this reasoning but I'm not quite sure what well enough to articulate it.

The mathematical theory he's displaying is correct, but he's mostly presuming the conclusion and trying to prove it rather than naturally showing how those assumptions could lead to the conclusion. At least, I'm pretty sure that's what it is. I watched it a year ago

I always find it funny whenever a genius detective character makes an outrageous and complicated deduction only to be completely wrong and the truth is much simpler.

didn't give off that impression either

Even in a lot of her conversations with Jogoro she's the type of person that like speaking in riddles and analogy

She never did that when she was honest with him and always told him everything straight up

who

Calculating multiple percentiles is always annoying to people, despite the math working, it doesn't seem like it should to most people.

simple ratio.png - 715x676, 289.38K

She has done nothing wrong. For, if she has done it, it ceases to be wrong

I'm sorry but this is SUPER BORING.
This is Hyouka all over again, very strong start, became boring garbage later on.

Good anon. You will be spared.

So what are the odds that the girl is not some whore, and this is just weird shit test mind games?

Urino kun... and the rest of the old newspaper club apparently...

Osanai-san... In the end, I can't be a SHOUSHIMIN

1 for every arson

I fucking WISH Osanai had done them. Fucking tease probably refuses to put out

He meant the dude who directed the OP

mpv-shot0064.jpg - 1920x1080, 352.32K

but who was series?

It assumes random probabilities and that they are in no way related to each other.

to stop osanai-san... I must stop being shoushimin ONE LAST TIME

You don't understand. She initialy picked the hot pasta to pull a power play "Oh no I picked something hot in hot place, yours looks so much better let's switch" and establish dominance over him. Stealing the tomato was a power play of his own from Kobato, he then put her in a chokehold with his shit explanation. what came afterwards is the whore coping with this.

Being shoushimin is suffering...

The head gives you STDs though so really not worth it

THEY SAY ALL MEN ARE CREATED EQUAL, BUT YOU LOOK AT ME AND YOU LOOK AT THESE NORMIES AND CAN SEE THAT STATEMENT IS NOT TRUE

I wish we had made gaijin 4komas for this series

So why the FUCK is Osanai doing all of this shit again? Is this part of her revenge on Jogoro? What's her endgame?

She want Jogoro to suffer for dumping her for another slut. Infidelity is a cardinal sin.

I honestly think she's just bored and wants to cause mystery for the sake of it

Oh someone’s doing one for Hotel, sweet.
I’m not an hyper edit anon but Osanai sneaking up behind the guys on the couch for episode 1 would be funny.

Wasn't it Osanai who said they should break it off when Jogoro made it clear he wasn't on-board with her doing crap like the entire kidnapping plan?

He forced her to leave him when he called her a liar. It's all his fault. An unwilling pawn is worthless to Osanai.

It's not the unwillingness that's the problem, the pawns getting manipulated are all "unwilling" since they don't understand how they're being moved and prodded.

Just stop please, Kobato...

Huh, people are still doing that? Last time I saw this was for Teibou.

So much bike abuse those episode

IMG_1060.jpg - 1920x1080, 132.58K

She didn’t even try to play along…

Kengo has a harder life than he should.

IMG_1037.jpg - 864x495, 261.58K

I was 100% expecting her to dump him right there and then. The ick almost manifested in physical form in that scene.

Series with well-written psychopathic people are pretty enjoyable in general.

That was not my read of her reaction at all

The OP reminds me of Coldplay or something. I need more music like that, it's so comfy

The fact she pointed out he's done that shit multiple times and she doesn't understand him at all when he does are signs of a strained relationship. Don't be an autist too, anon.

Yorushika is great.

Huh? She was lying about one being 100 yen cheaper? Also from the speech about there being people who know so much about "that sort of thing", people that Kobato knows, it sounds like she has a specific person in mind, that knew too much about them, that she is trying to warn Kobato about. The whole speech about the tomato probably ultimately freaked her out, because he is just like that person in that way. That last "zenzen wakannai" sounds like someone completely defeated and resigned to their fate. She's found herself caught up in something deep, poor girl

It's the salmon pasta that's cheaper.

there was one for Akiba Maid War

scrap that specific aspect then, weird quirk of expecting mushroom things to be described as creamy, but in every other aspect she sounds at a complete loss. I fear for her safety. Is the demon going to have her head for being a whore and betraying Jogoro?

But that's not what they want deep down.

I laughed my ass off at that part.

I feel like the vibe was more "oh bother, I've done it again" regarding his failure to shoshimin and not scare the hoes

just a random thought, would osanai x nakamaru and jogogo x urino work?

it sounds like she has a specific person in mind

She's either referring to Osanai (since she has come up before as the ex) or quite possibly she is referring to the gossip girl who told Kobato she was cheating on him with 2 dudes.

The gossip girl seems benign and Nakamaru would have to know that she knows and be affected enough by her knowing that she'd lead a narrow conversation about specifically the cheating by mentioning her. I'm not ruling out her being involved in the plot pushing buttons on Nakamura's end like Hiya is with Urino, but this affair is getting far too complicated and the audience being let in on far too little that I don't know what to do about it any more. If it turns out that Osanai has had contact with Nakamura and is trying to use her to keep Kobato in check, then whatever, but if Osanai is the sole mastermind after half the season's runtime then I feel like our time is being wasted since we already know about her.

The gossip girl seems benign

Yes, but if she is indeed referring to the gossip girl then it's not for the girl's sake, it's an attempt to prod Kobato and remind him about the cheating allegations to get a reaction out of him.

I really don't think Osanai is pulling her strings because Osanai seemed bothered when she saw Kobato with her, plus she herself is bothered whenever Kobato does something to remind her of Osanai as well. She clearly doesn't appreciate the subject of "the ex" and she clearly dislikes whenever she notices some of Osanai's influence in Kobato's behavior around her (like picking which cafe or w/e to go to).

Loved that scene. Really shows how terribly they suit each other.

No, but Osanai x Jogaro and Urino x Nakamura would work.

Rape.

The show's given us Osanai parading around in an "I'm the Sith Lord" t-shirt and very little else, like do we have any clue who besides Urino's brother has a fire safety manual from six years ago? I don't remember any of the other characters' families. Other clues are a hammer that I don't think has been accounted for, a large amount of bikes, pudding... I still favor Nakamaru being a key to this. Who are these two other men? Why is she so fixated on Osanai despite her hypocrisy on this matter? This can't be a non-sequitur. Kobato's failure to shoshimin and hear her out before it's too late is going to lead to a bad end.

This one is up to something.

Very obviously baiting Jougorou into mentioning last episode's rumor

Orders hot after clearly wanting cold to bait a detective response

"You say the weirdest things at the weirdest times" is a hint

Her facial expression always seems off. Jougorou is too fixated on Osanai, he's going to get humbled by someone right under his nose. It will be good for him, shoushimin get struck down all the time.

gomenne.jpg - 611x384, 66.62K

I want to get three-timed on by nakamaru-san...

Is there a cultural thing we're not picking up about wagashi that would lead to this reaction upon hearing that someone likes them unironically?

wagashi sounds close to watashi

Woman moment.

If she can't have a bike, no one else can.

I am reacting to this with just as much disbelief but not quite as much horror
so far it seems like her job is to keep him away from the fire case and from Osanai, but I don't think she was clued in on the full extent of the person she's dealing with. Did one of the other guys put her up to this? Is it Urino's brother after all? Does he have any relation to the kidnappers with the van? Do we know enough about anyone's backgrounds to be able to draw a proper relationship chart? I sense a massive infodump next episode. For now I want to draw a line between Nakamaru and Hiya since they both need to be out of the picture fairly early in the evening, with equally flimsy excuses.

who besides Urino's brother has a fire safety manual from six years ago

No idea, I don't remember anything about such a thing at all. I don't think it was mentioned before. If they had some piece of paper on a table without the characters addressing it at all or some shit then I have no idea. Feels like the only real conclusion would be that the perpetrator is somebody who works with such documents or a member of such a person's close family / friends, because pretty much nobody else would even know they exist or where to find them.

The only clue with big relevance at this point would be the van, with the obvious connection to Osanai. We've also had Osanai sitting on the burned bench and the bike burnings may also very unreliably connect to the incident of her own bike being stolen, so perpetrator or no the show seems to suggest she has at least some sort of connection to all this.

Who are these two other men?

At this point I'm not even convinced they exist after this episode. She was clearly prodding Jogoro to get a reaction out of him about the cheating shit so she's either afraid because she's been caught and the nerves are getting to her or she's the one (figuratively) lighting the fire to see how Jogoro reacts to the heat. Then again she didn't really seem nervous.

Why is she so fixated on Osanai despite her hypocrisy on this matter?

Well she's been with a dude for 9 months and he still seems to be more interested in his ex than he is in her, I don't think it's particularly surprising that she takes issue with this.

I think she's just pissed that her BF of 9 months seems to not care about her whatsoever and has had enough of it, so now she wants to figure out what the fuck is going on with him at the very least.

Nakamaru is a sweet girl and I am still on her side. I believe her.

Nakamaru.jpg - 1625x905, 504K

what if she does something truly unforgivable...
