I wonder, why is this such a huge problem? That shit's been bothering me forever. Watching anything that doesn't feature adult women only in English is a pain in the ass. The women dubbing shit in my language don't have this problem for some reason.

If I were to guess, it is because they don't understand the appeal at all. They just see a character that is on average going to be more colorful and stand out more. This might make them attempt a mascot voice like someone trying to impersonate mickey or something. Of course, they aren't trained for this so it comes out scratchy and bad. There are other times where it is because, due to not getting the appeal, they attempt some other type of voice based off of a character trait even if it doesn't fit. I think the Neptunia dub for instance sounds weird, the voice actors are doing these stereotypical teen girl voices that don't really fit the characters. In the earlier Disgaea games, Etna has some evil woman voice. A voice that would fit some hag goth villainess, but doesn't fit a loli that well (although I feel like her voice has improved over time as it sounds a lot more cutesy now). I'm not even sure this is a problem of knowledge either, many women may just not get how important cuteness is to men (and that they want the girls to feel lifelike, unlike a lot of "cute" western cartoon characters that have a weird voice as a joke). I don't really understand how cuteness appreciation died in the west. Although many people who aren't even anime fans find anime girls cute, many even don't like them because they find them overly cute.
