The anime barely covered any of the 1st year girls. Hiyori, Minami and Yutaka behave like an actual friend group and have their own interactions, like Konata/Kagami/Tsukasa, instead of Hiyori just being delusional all the time like in the anime. She was also part of the school's anime and manga club, which the anime completely skipped. Hiyori also gets a lot of scenes just doing otaku stuff with Konata, and there are plenty of great Yutaka + Konata family moments which never got adapted either.
Just go read the manga; it's a completely different experience.

You know, I certainly would like to read the manga at some point but I think I've built up a mental block around it because I don't wanna run out of it and see all there is to see after so long. I've adored CCS for two years now but only keep re-watching the first season for the same reason, and as soon as I read up to where Haruhi's show (my #1) leaves off in the light novels, I hit the same wall despite owning all of them (sans the new one).
Is this normal? How do I break through it??
