Isekai

Anyone else notice that isekai is in remission?

Only 2 of them this season.

darkness sexo

no wonder this season is so good

Only 2 of them this season.

I count 8 normal isekai and a handful of native ones.

There are 4

And? What is going to replace it? That's the main question.

isekai is a psyop because everything gets called isekai. It is not real. There was never any isekai in the first place.

le guy gets harem, weakest but actually the strongest...Yami healer, etc. it's isekai in spirit hehe

ok

Guild Receptionist

Yup, obviously isekai cuz guilds and...Wait, what happened to some guy getting a harem? You were going crazy about that. Why all of a sudden that doesn't matter and it's all about having 2 out of 100 'isekai tropes"?

Nippon Elf

There's an elf so...no? It's a dumb romcom?? What the heck??

It's a dumb romcom??

It is, but it's also a reverse isekai. Dunno if that should count.

Isekai is just if your main character gets to another world somehow.
If your story does that it's an isekai.

I would remission inside lalatina

Given that the niche of escapist power fantasy will never go away, it will simply morph into something similar but with a different setting.
Maybe Urban fantasy or Sci-fi will become more prominent in that niche once people are sick of generic Dnd/DQ worlds.

Or maybe actually interesting fantasy? It's not like japs can't do that when they're actually trying.

One would hope, but there's the question of whether the people watching Isekai and other escapist power fantasies would even be willing to consume actually interesting fantasy.

*could
That generation is retired, dead or out of steam. We're left with narokids who learned from videogames...

Better fantasy than all of the westoid slop from the last decade. Released last year.

Isn't it like that every year though? Personally, I prefer to watch isekai during comfy cold seasons. When it gets sunny, I tend to watch anime with more realistic settings, mainly romcoms.

Maybe Urban fantasy or Sci-fi will become more prominent

Sounds too good to be real. that would take actual effort.

Does this look like a romcom to you?

Kuso thread

Neat creature design

Reddit still complains about its existence, so no, I haven't.

Why don't you go back then.

It really is. It shows up for the whole of one episode and disappears forever

Some of them don't have it in the title, while the rest are native.

Is TBATE the best isekai this season?

Have you considered you have shit taste?
You keep talking about this "interesting fantasy" until someone looks into it and then it turns out you wanted it to look grittier like in game of thrones lolol. kys.

Holy mother of projections batman

?

in remission

I will pray in front of a shrine for its permanent extinction
Maybe we can actually get some worlds and plotlines, with some tiny modicum of creativity and originality.

It *could* be a projection if I was a fan of Game of Thrones. Learn what words mean, dumblet.
Instead, it's a fair assumption based on numerous anons praising whatever the west shits out and it's just the same but grittier.
And? I see no attempt to disprove what I said.

It's impossible to disprove incoherent screeching of a schizo.

Let's go back to magic battle academies

No.

This is like comparing slugs to snails. They are both just about equally stagnant, myopic, and trope driven wish fulfillment, with pretty much zero fucking takeaway value beyond instant gratification.
Fantasy has been this way for a long fucking time too.

How similar is this to Persona? I don't like Persona. Does it have a calendar system where objectives need to be completed by a certain date? I hate deadlines and I definitely hate them in my leisure hobbies.

I bet you like game of thrones lmao

t-that's not true...uh...umm...I'm still not saying what I like though...for reasons..p-plz understand!

Worldbuilding wise, nothing in common.
Gameplay wise, it's literally Persona.

Isekai fad is dying.
Reincarnation fad is taking over.

So asking for interesting world building instead of usual dragon quest shit is that much?

Metaphor copies the calendar system from Persona, but it's more than that. It's a loveletter to a fuckload of Atlus properities.

Spell names based on Megami Tensei

Press-turn battle system based on Shin Megami Tensei

Archetype map similar to the thing from Digital Devil Saga.

Front line/backline system inspired by Etrian Odyssey

An entire dungeon literally copied from Etrian Odyssey

One handed sword attacks in the field are Raidou's attack string.

I'm probably missing more, but it's about as "literally Persona" as far deep as having social links and a velvet room sort of.

Too bad it was all wrapped in an ugly as fuck package. That I wouldn't touch with a ten foot pole.

Why do you look at hundreds of different worlds/settings in modern anime and call them all "Dragon Quest"? Are you stupid?

I refuse to play as an MC who looks and dresses like a lesbian.
That flannel shit makes me want to vomit.
Maybe you are a tranny, or tranny adjacent, and used to ugly things. So you just don't notice.

those were always terrible though. Suck the soul out of Hogwarts and throwing titties in there to tempt dickless MC's is insufferable.

Also im very sick of literally every event, action, or twist in an anime being painstakingly explained to me like im a moron. I LOVE apocalypse hotel for not doing that.

getting desperate are we?

the MC looks like trash thats true, but you can surely mod that out or something? otherwise the game looks great.

I would have to mod nearly every character in the fucking game. They are all ugly as sin to me.

isekai is hanging in there this spring

Yeah pretty much.

They realized that it doesn't work.

Because it all boils down to same tropes. You get initial setting with minor differences from each other and then they are never expanded upon. The isekai that manages to not involve guild shit already stands a step above others and the one that actually uses the setting for story is automatically 7/10 at least. Basically, if you are making fantasy then unique setting is much better than randomly generating actions of isekaijin in world that has no fundamental difference from every single other one.

Don't forget native isekai

it all boils down to same tropes.

Except when it doesn't and you see the "same tropes" changing whenever you want something new to complain. It's always an inane detail too like having a guild and I now have to look at every anime for "guilds" like that fucking matters.
It's like if I said sci-fi is all the same because I hate spaceships.

no fundamental difference from every single other one

Untrue. The entire system of magic and society can change from one to another.
