Yes, it's one of the better parts of arc 7. To highlight the difference because that retard couldn't think his way out of a wet paper bag, you actually do see enough struggle and how things play out that it remains tense and impactful despite possibly hundreds of loops being enumerated over. To some extent the sparka matches were similar. But by the end of the arc he's looping without anything being shown at all and the only indications of it were passing mentions that he was. At that point we're just in shounen fight territory where the good guys are mostly just going to win and it's not Tappei's strong suit in most cases.

I think you can DL the LN from your high seas port of choice. YP leaves much to be desired as a translation, but it's basically the only option. As for your points, yes, most of that was just cut, I think Reinhard does look up at the moon but you don't get any internal thoughts or anything.

When I was reading it they had the advantage of all being new and not really having fans, which means they have the potential to die horribly and have it stick. So there were definitely tense moments throughout. Now, in retrospect, basically nobody died because Tappei is a hack, but when reading it we couldn't know that. Especially the scare with the Pleiades at the island until everything got super reset. I'm also floored that Whorna made it out of the arcs alive.

The Re:Zero community is very divided upon what is better, The LN, or the WN. Many critics of the LN say that the WN is the superior way to read post S1 content because it is the raw thoughts of Tappei, and has more content, and does not suffer from massive amounts of cuts, edits, and rewrites that the LN has in contrast to itself. Critics of WN say (like how most LN are to many series) that the LN is the revised and official version of the series. There are entire plot rewrites to all post S1 Arcs. Legend says this is due to Tappei submitting nearly the amount of 10 LN's for the first LN to Kadokawa, hence them hiring an editor, and having said editor cut so much content and rewrite so much in comparison to the WN.

Flop and Medium were characters that were not in the original conception, and when I thought about how to write the ending for the two of them, I thought that Flop, who is a shrewd guy, would go for the biggest thing, and if he did, he would make Medium the queen (of the emperor).　>Furthermore, Abel and Medium spent a surprisingly large amount of time together, so I thought this could work, and that’s when the characters of Flop and Medium were solidified.

Based on how he set Flop up, he's crazy enough and ambitious enough that he would make his sister Empress. So it just kind of happened because Abel and Medium were in the same room together for enough time. I get the feeling Tappei is starting to have more of a problem where there's a lot of story in his head and he doesn't remember which parts of it he put down on paper or not. There's a few moments like this earlier on, notably the logic for why Subaru thought Julius was a good match against Petelgeuse, but as things have gone on this seems to be happening more. If you look through the QA you can see he thought Regulus was handled well in the anime and went over well with fans. Which is an opinion you can basically only have if you're filling out the rest of his speeches in your own head or have the context for them

In the loop where Rem actually killed him he was creeping slowly to Emilia's room, exactly what Rem/Ram suspected he would eventually do. He tripped several alarms set up explicitly to alert them if he tried this. Because of his speed, which is due to his sickness, he appears to be sneaking. Rem is waiting for him there because she's been alerted and she's on guard because this is what they expected to happen. When she can actually see him she sees that he is sick and now she's got a giant hate boner with no proper target. She can't save him so she decides to put him down, but does it badly due to the conflicting emotions and frustration.
For the torture loop Subaru makes himself a guest, is snooping around all the time, acts strangely, says he's going to leave, lies to them, steals a weapon when they gave him money and anything else he asked for, and doubles back down the path to overwatch the mansion directly over Emilia's room and wait for nightfall. If he kept walking she wouldn't have chased him down or engaged him, she followed him to make sure he was gone or doing what he said and he didn't.
Now, he comes across as the dumbest assassin, but they are 110% primed for an assassin so any behavior he exhibits is going to be biased to them believing that he is.

And then for the second one Ram figures out via the torture that he is not lying and is just stupid while Rem is too angry to fully see reason, so she kills Subaru to keep Rem from figuring out she's been torturing an innocent retard. Because preserving Rem's mental state is more important to her than some retard. Rem takes this as an indication that Subaru was guilty, but Ram is being nice by sparing him further torture and thus her worldview is preserved and she wasn't making a terrible mistake she would blame herself for for the rest of her life.

You can also read her back story and see that she has a 100% success rate on detecting Witch Cultists based on smell and Subaru is the one and only time she was wrong.

The whole reason for having the loops tied up to something like dying is so there are stakes, even if Subaru reached a perfect ending at the end, we knew that it was paid in blood and trauma

In the novels her blades were explicitly moving faster than sound. The author said that Wilhelm (who Elsa is on the roughly same tier as) is at the level where modern military technology isn’t much of a problem for him at all.
