No, way, X's worst part are those early episodes with Ennil El and Garrod leaving the crew. The space arc and overall conclusion is way better than that. The only real problem is that their budge was lower and you could see more stock footage there, but X's structure being very "arc" centered means they could just skip the "North American Federation Resistane" arc when they had the episode cut,while barely hurting everything else.

Nah, it's clear they wanted the Frosts as final bosses as soon as the 2nd episode of the Estardo arc starts and they're suddenly untouchable in battle and master manipulators. 0079 has the side crew swap around MS a lot but I'm pretty sure the only time someone other than Amuro pilots the Gundam is that one episode where Sayla takes it without permission.

0079 actually has the least as Amuro is shown to be the only one who could pilot Gundam effectively. By the time of Zeta you are right as the Real Robot genre was more established.
