I doubt they'll be freaks like that. These guys are being set up as primary and back up choices to wield the Blades. So they need to be able to give up their sorceries, and the side-effects/weird shit of their sorceries.
Thats probably why none of the new-gen Hishaku so far have any real great combat sorceries. Yura needs them to be strong as sorcery fundamentals and sword/tool/weapon skills. He doens't need kids with wackadoo powers.
So I figure one guys will have some basic mundane powers that they've leveled up like Hiruhiko, or be weapon/too/kungfu fighters like Kuguri. Eye beams, fire breath, telekinetic control over dildos, I dunno.
And the other one will have some utility support power, like the pattern has been with the new-gen duos.

Hmm.. maybe some were island refugees. Probably means nothing though, sorcery became public knowledge after the war so all the yokai people likely got discovered by general public around the same time.

The island's sudden appearance sounds like a plot point for a much, much later arc, maybe towards the end of the series
