Otr of the Flame has a better writing than Red Hood at least on its pacing and exposition, but it has bigger flaws than Red Hood
1. generic setting, Red Hood had an original setting in an interesting fairy tale world that made you get invested in it, while Otr is just yet another medieval fantasy setting, but this time with vikings, and yet vikings are barely any different from your average medieval fantasy setting
2.it is too edgy, it is going for super serious super sad and edgy story and although this works with Kagurabachi it doesn't work with Otr because the protagonist is a kid, kids even if quiet are positive and not as dark and grim as the mangaka represents them, idk I simply do not like the atmosphere the story gives
3. although the writing is better it isn't good enough to carry the flaws the manga has, maybe I am too harsh with a manga that just had one chapter
I can't believe Ice-Head Gill died for this, it was perfect in every way possible, the power system and the story telling are the only things Otr does better
