I want miura back

it is over.jpg - 4272x2496, 2.38M

I don’t. He would just watch idol anime and do nothing and then die again

I can't believe something as mediocre as frieren is popular as it is

if the eclipse happened to me i would call my friend kyle

You’re not very observant then

i probably just stay in my bed and look at funny videos with headphones in and not acknowledge my current situation

i'm disappointed in humanity

This frieren shit is so comically overrated and pseudo deep

The anime made it look good.

the berserk manga is so fucking good, i'm not even talking about the story or the art in itself, Miura made every page so interesting, even in tiny thumbnail like in the OP where everything is barely visible, even then the page is so interesting

lol berserk is so mainstream it's basically Reddit tier

popular manga now

file.jpg - 640x601, 49.05K

This but Toriyama

db kny.jpg - 1560x9750, 2.18M

Berserk only became super mainstream in like 2019

LOL
Berserk was always babbys first "dark" manga

Demon slayer is so trash

daily old good new bad thread

doesn't matter, berserk is a fantastic manga, shitren is a glorified storyboard

Gradients and background sparkles created in Clip Studio aren't art.

yes
show me one impressive modern mangaka, fujimoto was kinda getting away with it with his assistants and good sense of composition but obviously gave up

Berserk was always babbys first "dark" manga

the edgelord reveals himself

Tsurubuchi Kenji

goes to show that manga and LN's are made to be scripts for anime rather than products that stand on their own merits

>popular manga now

absolute peak

the language you use shows that you blindly follow whatever is currently popular and are a faggot

You don't really want to go beyond babbys first dark manga though. Manga even darker than Berserk just end up being pure sloppa like Dead Tube.

old good new bad

Classic apex fallacy

I can't believe something as mediocre as berserk is popular as it is

I still miss him like you wouldn't believe. I wish I'd written him fanmail or some shit just once.
Man it's been decades since I last read db, I forgot how good of a mangaka he was, those panels were a joy to read. RIP

Retarded fucking newfaggot.

it's not, even gigguk says it changed his life

Yuck

muh art

Story > scribbles

read a book then

muh story

if i wanted "good writing" then i'd just read a book, i'm reading manga for the art

Miura was a legitimately excellent artist. That was half his problem, he spent so long on his pages that it adversely affected his health and his output. He was well known to sometimes spend weeks redoing a single page, and because he almost exclusively worked with ink and paper, any mistakes meant he had to start over from scratch.

Miura was a legitimately excellent artist.

This shit is literally traced from the Cordoba Mosque-Cathedral. I know Anon Babble is full of children, but I didn't expect them to be this ignorant of the world.

why are berserktards so over dramatic and cringe?

babbies first seinen

l-look ma!! I-I'm so cool!!!

Calling this 'tracing' just exposes how little you understand about art, process, and visual storytelling. Referencing real-world architecture especially iconic structures like the Córdoba Mosque-Cathedral is something artists have done for centuries. It's called research, not plagiarism.

Miura didn't Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V this. He hand-rendered it in ink, with obsessive line work, adjusted lighting, perspective depth, and mood to serve the narrative. That takes actual skill. The same kind of skill you need to hold a pencil without crying. Also, even if he had traced it (he didn’t), that wouldn’t devalue his work. Every art student in the world studies from reference. Animation studios trace over 3D models all the time. Manga artists use photo references constantly to maintain speed and quality. It’s standard practice, not some scandalous shortcut.

Miura took something real and transformed it into something stunning. If you think that reduces him to a copy-paster, you're either trolling or tragically unaware of how visual art functions outside your bedroom hot takes.

the glaze is crazy

Jujutsu Kaisen was the greatest corporate made soulless slop of its time. It doesn't have an author, the manga is written by a collection of drone wannabe mangaka, easily replacable cogs with a dogshit artstyle that can be easily replicated as well.

Freiren did what Jujutsu Kaisen did but better, by combining every soulless shounen trope but also current era (strong independent woman is the main character AND side character, not just background bait like Nobara) and most importantly the generc isekai fantasy universe tropes. At the same time, it was aware of the fact that isekai aren't critically popular, so it's protected in the hivemind by making the protagonist not from a different world but a

haha cute autistic erfu haha

A generation from now, all the children posting on Anon Babble who are obsessed with JJK and Frieren will pretend they never really liked them that much, maybe 6/10s. It's because you cannot have a real cult following for soulless shit.

JJK still the main reason I have abs. 2018 was such a big year for me. Finding out about JJK and it fixing all the boring shit I hate about shonen, meals after a fight, TNJ, nobody dying etc. I will never put another action manga above JJK ever. The entire manga reads like an action movie, I've never read such clear choreography before. I think DBZ probably had some good choreography but I never finished reading it cause it's way to predictable and just not as much fun as I thought it was when I was young.

are we still pretending that both Berserk and DB didn't went to shit when Miura and Toriyama were alive?

Learn the difference between tracing and using reference

he spent so long on his pages that it adversely affected his health and his output

Many such cases.

Bastard24.png - 1920x1517, 3.25M

I had similar thoughts when I was 14, yeah.

At least Hagiwara got to retire and have a family

If you believe his lies, as of 2022 he is "still working on it" but that can't be true. For what it's worth, if you are able to draw something like this for several years then you deserve a lengthy break. It's like the illustration Bernie Wrightson did for Frankenstein: possibly some of the most detailed sequential art ever but it took him years to do one spread.

Bastard85.jpg - 1746x1280, 942.77K

Wrightson did two different Frankenstein projects, one was just adding illustrations to the novel and the other was a comic book sequel called Frankenstein Alive, Alive! which he never finished due to dying
The shit he drew though...

Wanting a mangeka who is one in a million

I was talking about the illustrations for the novel, I think he didn't have a deadline so he worked on them between other things and the result was definitely some of the best comic art I have ever seen.

Yeah, the book illustrations he just did in between paying gigs in his own time.

I will now watch and donate your e-celeb

Miura was a legitimately excellent artist.

Miura always was an amateurish artist. I don't know why so many people praise the art in Berserk of all things. There's a shitton of amateurish art that is very busy and detailed, that doesn't make it well drawn.

there possibly can't be photos of this location from different angles for the artist to trace even if it's obviously traced from a photo like 99% of manga backgrounds

NTA but you're seriously fucking retarded. Why are you Berserk fanboys like this? Lots of manga have traced backgrounds and nobody cares.

Learn the difference between tracing and using reference.

Miura didn't Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V this. He hand-rendered it in ink, with obsessive line work, adjusted lighting, perspective depth, and mood to serve the narrative. That takes actual skill.

Bruh it's just xeroxed shit. Are you seriously implying that tracing did not exist pre-digital? Do you even draw? What is a lightbox? Do you know you can literally glue paper cutouts in your black & white manga? A lot of people did this all the time and nobody's getting upset at them because everybody knows that manga workload is retarded and any sane man would take every possible shortcut. It's only you Miura fans who love this edgy 2000s Sonic OC tier edgefest of a manga way too much who get your panties in a twist when someone criticizes the art, which isn't good at all. Lots of lines doesn't mean good.

Seinen manga series VS Shonen manga series

Miura

Yep, Anon Babble has once again tried to pretend that every mangaka in the 80's and 90's where Miura and that every series looked like Berserk.

gigguk

WHOOOOOOO?

Holy fuck shut the fuck up.

the guy who won against digitroon

It's not that every artist was Miura, it's that there WAS a Miura in the first place.

You're a fucking dunning krueger contrarian retard. I would be sirprosed if you are not underage by the way you talk

So shitting on every other mangaka simply because Miura existed is a good thing now? Not to mention, not everyone likes Seinen or Berserk in the first place, why should those people care?

As much as Anon Babble likes to shit on Miura
Berserk is still more than likely better than favorite manga lmao with the story, art, and characters lol

It is fair to shit on Frieren because it is mediocre as shit in every possible way. I've seen storyboards made by CalArts freshmen that are better comics than Frieren. This is how mediocre Frieren is a manga

Frieren bad

Name better manga

Berserk
Especially Golden Age and Falcon of the Millennium Empire arcs.

Berserk

sirprosed

samefag is seething so hard he can't even type LMFAO
Berserk is not a seinen, just an edgy shonen. misery porn doesn't mean mature just like busy art doesn't mean well drawn

Berserk was too kino hence why God, kikes, Twitter trannies, and pedos on Anon Babble get mad. Rip Miura

kikes

What does that have to do with anything?

The Sky Hawk

Sky Hawk.jpg - 1140x1671, 328.2K

Berserk is not a seinen

Published in a Seinen magazine retard, it's target audience where young adults.

You are a teenager in your contrarian phase, in ten years you will look back at you from today and cringe in shame

What would the plot of a crossover be?

They don’t like when people question the system or religion

222

You can’t beat my numbers

Frieren hunts down apostles like the worthless demonspawn they are

miura's manga deteriorated into moeshit long before he died lmao, fuck off.

222

Taps the sign

Ahem>00

Cope

Miura was based. Rip to the GOAT

Frieren gets one of the most visually gorgeous animated adaptations seen by man

Berserk, that is hailed as one of the greatest manga ever, only gets dogshit adaptations

Why is that the case?

Berserk is not special because of the detailed art or because of the "edgy sonic shit" like the underage poster says. Sure the detailed art is a plus but look at the rape horse page for example.
Posting the rape horse alone doens't do justice for the scene because when you are reading and you flip the page, the next one is Griffith raping casca and the page flows down to Guts face. It masterfully done to represent his ptsd. Stuff like this is what makes comics what they are, you cant really do this in animation, this is why Berserk is a fantastic manga and Frieren a glorified storyboard

What does that have to do with anything?

He doesn't know what to say so he's just going to call you a bunch of different spooks.
LMAO the other anon said the background was traced, which it obviously was, just from a different photo of the IRL site, and you got mad. Then I chimed in to say that it's something absolutely normal for manga, and yet you got massively asshurt and had a spergout, because people stating facts tarred this overblown idea of Miura as an artist which you Berserk fanboys always have. Are you sure you're not the emotional teenager here?
You called me Dunning-Kruger when you can't see that the background is obviously traced, so I know for sure that you can't draw for shit. I assure you that if you get interested in drawing and learn what makes a good drawing, in 10 years you won't consider Miura to be a good artist.

For me? It's Kaoru Mori

mori elves.png - 652x667, 430.44K

Because it is easier to adapt Frieren, it is already a storyboard

You don't read manga at all

You still haven't learned the difference between tracing and using reference

Tl:dr
Go do your homework or something

222

God has decided that berserk is based. Thread over.

In this world, is the destiny of mankind controlled by some transcendental entity or law? Is it like the hand of God hovering above? At least it is true that man has no control,

even over his own will.

rip miura

people who say "dude berserk is goat" etc haven't read the slop that comes after the golden age arc

Digital drawing killed manga industry

So, what's wrong with both?

Works on my machine.

There are popular manga with far worse art than Frieren and unlike alot of other manga there are no bad panels or chapters with a drop in quality, it's consistent *fine* from start to current.

3527836.jpg - 2211x1600, 1.34M

the best ongoing dark fantasy manga with both great art and story is an axebait

This generation doesn't deserve another Miura in his prime

Berserk

Your fucking corny as shit. How old are you? 10? Only edgy teenagers like that shit.

It would be really nice to have people actually interested in art to talk about it with instead of a thread that just devolves into shitposting

Hunterx hunter is miles better than frieren

Old Good New Ba-

0092-020.jpg - 600x848, 90K

For me, it's pic
Where are the sales numbers? I keep hearing this claim yet its status seems fine to me. The story is taking its sweet ass time too

c005_022.jpg - 1952x1400, 2.1M

doesn't matter, frieren is mediocre, none of you are getting that it is mediocre not because of the simple art, but how it is presented

0198-009.jpg - 1067x1600, 215.25K

Are they still releasing Berserk?

Occasionally. We had two chapters in February.

It's funny seeing people praising Miura now as if they weren't complaining about everything he did for over a decade before he died. Also not everything needs to be or should be super detailed. There is merit in art styles that aren't hyper detailed pseudorealism.

Do you want more spreads? What is the message you are trying to convey juxtaposing these 2 images?

Frieren is such a sterile, soulless manga. I remember reading the manga when it was fairly new, but I dropped it quickly because I didn't really think it was that good and the manga is so lifeless. I'd never think the anime would be that great, but it did surprisingly well. This is one of those series that's single-handedly carried by a good director and key animator.
