Hot Take: Lucky Star is ass

you had to be there.

Nuclear take: Eva is disgustingly overrated. It's a fun show but holy shit the community around it is insanely autistic and think it's the second coming of christ and SUPER DUPER 200IQ smart.
The same goes for SteinsGate

I would eat Konata's ass.

mild take: i liked both

Who said it was a good show?

Is the number one comment when someone doesn't understand why Haruhi was so popular and is a cult show.

Same goes for Cowboy Bebop

Cowboy Bebop and other anime that aired on adult swim when I was a teenager are the only good shows

lol, good one mr anonymous poster

Armageddon take: Outlaw Star was better than Cowboy Bebop

You just have to know what you’re getting. I use the oreo scale. I measure the balance of slice of life and fantasy content as cookie vs. frosting. The Oreo is the cookie and the frosting. You want a CGDCT show that’s more like the cookie, watch lucky star, non non biyori, little women (which has an anime. You want more frosting? Bakuon! Nichijou, Yuru Yuri. You want an even balance? Azumanga Daioh, K-on, Haibane Renmei.

Konata's hot ass

Samurai Champloo was better

If you ask me, the cast was too bloated, it wasn’t as focused as something like Azumanga.

It's a fun show

It's horribly depressing and bleak, wtf about that is "fun" ?

Evangelion stands on just being a very solid dumb robot show with good action and music even if you disregard the loldeep pseudointellecutal shit and characters. It's tailor-made to be the greatest shit of all time if you are the target demographic for the show (fifteen-year-olds). Music is John-Williams-tier.

It's good in small doses, don't binge it, watch it when you want to kill a little time and don't want something deep.

Hot Take: Lucky Star ass pressed onto my face

This, and madoka. I honestly don't get why madoka is praised so much. It's a decent show, but if you only knew it from the fandom you'd think it's deeper than it actually is.

List 3 shows at the same level of Madoka in your opinion

the only hot takes ITT are "popular anime is overrated" and never "unpopular anime is underrated"

rather quaint, makes you think doesn't it

Case closed, Nichijou, day break illusion

Can't say for the last one but you chose fundamentally different shows thematically and plot wise. The only comparison you can make is on a purely entertainment metric, which is highly subjective and cannot be really argued against. Madoka's visual and auditory experience far surpasses those shows imo, frankly it's quite unique in anime. Add an emotionally investing plot and it's hard to find anime that provide a similar experience, what you listed is very different from it in almost everything as I already said, and cannot really be compared. Will check out the third one

Disagree but you have to be a specific type of autist to enjoy it.
Lukewarm Take: Eva isn't very deep complex or nuance it just has really well written characters which makes it better than 99% of anime. Same goes for basically any show that people think is wildly deep like Bebop or Steins;Gate.

OP is a mouthbreathing retard
but not less retard than all the stupid fucks giving him attention
reported and saged
and for all the butthurts mods, go fuck yourself as well

My hot take is that Steins;Gate is more overrated than Eva and it's not close.

Compared to most anime and even movies, Eva is wildly le deep. No use to say that Eva isn't deep compared to classic poetry

Steins;Gate doesn't have really well written characters I'd say. They're all propped up by gimmick traits like being different flavors of anime Otaku.
Eva and Bebop are fair though.

Lucky Star was a great show. Probably the greatest of its kind. But I'm not sure if it would 'hold up' by 'today's standards'. One big reason is I feel otaku culture isn't really a thing anymore. Or at least it isn't the way it used to be and the 'otaku experience' isn't as unified.
There used to be some friction around anime and manga both to consume and to create. So much so that people within the community had a common language and unifying identity, so much so that lucky star's referencial humor was relatable to all.

Anime and manga has now become so mainstream and the barrier to entry so low that there isn't a unifying identity anymore. It had almost become as pointless to identify as an 'anime fan' as it is to say you are a 'music fan' or 'youtube fan'.

It's like a 7.5/10

Bebop or Steins;Gate

really well written characters

I saw no sign of this when I watched it

kill yourself you fat cunt

it just has really well written characters

Lol
Lmao even

We didn't watch it because it was good, we watched it because it was 2007

But she's a smelly neet and she probably doesn't wipe.

No.

It is a chore to watch for the first time in 2025, probably for these reasons: I preferred Outlaw Star.

wtf about that is "fun" ?

the high school slice of life parts

She is pretty gross. I don't usually get what it is that makes a 2D character smelly, but she's got it.

What said.
