What do we think bros? I feel empty right now.
Thunderbolt Fantasy
Kino series, I loved the movie.
My FUARKING hero giving alms to the poor.
If spk's cleavage is still working on the fansubs I'll watch those, otherwise I'll watch it today with the modified CR subs.
HOLY FUCK I KNEEEEEEEEEEL
Were the S3 subs ever re-timed for the BD rips?
Also, S4 BD rip upload fucking when?
That part where OPguy shows up was pretty nice. I didn't know much about him but the song and poem voice made it clear it was Top 10 Anime Crossovers right there. I guess some anons that followed Pili before was like an amazing moment. Also his poem was very special sounding so to say.
Watch the other Pili shows. Right fucking now!
Why does he looks so different btw? i that because of some dimension stuff? would be nice to have it in the original style, so the contrast of him being OP compared to the TBF cast would be better
They had 4 designs for his appearance in TBF apparently, two of them look pretty close to his Pili verse design, but they decided to go with the tanned one.
How was this guy called? I forgot.
If I liked the Dark Crystal will I like this?
They're very different genres but if you like puppetry you'll definitely like Thunderbolt Fantasy.
That's kind of like asking
If I liked Legend of the Galactic Heroes, will I like Higurashi?
It's entirely possible that the answer will be yes, but the fact that they're the same form of media doesn't necessarily mean much.
Who were the bun enjoyers?
I honestly can't really get into the Pilli's other puppet stuff. It's the voice acting.
are these still the latest fansub? files.catbox.moe
Is there an OST for when he descended from heavens? Or is it still to soon to ask for the soundtrack?
those are modified CR subs
You say tomater, I zader matermorts
Random well intended people form the isekai world. They were there to show contrast to the people close to Locust and to in some way humble him, I see it's a good start for him to realize he can still has time to change his ways.
btw ignore my ESLing
On the one hand, they wrapped everything up, didn't leave a single plotpoint hanging. Absolutely love that and appreciate that, especially in this era where fucking everything is an eternal cliffhanger and dropped plotpoint for Streaming to do their 'Expanded universe' and 80 percent of it gets cancelled.
On the other it did absolutely feel like checking boxes at a frankly stunning pace to where nothing feels as epic as Duck flexing his full power in season 1 or Shou revealing who he really is. Az dying without any lamenting about the time travel stuff especially felt hollow. This should've been the moment he realized he had undone countless lifetimes of work for his thrill and either being excited about it or hating it, him giving more bog standard "Evil dad" speech really undercut it.
Even though I fucking loved the Power Rangers Make My Monster grow final form as out there as it was, I'm kind of disappointed that he was defeated like he was. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't without setup and it wasn't a bad thematic end, but the actual literal god in the machine ending was pretty pure anticlimax.
Finally, the time travel shou thing is probably the most out there thing, it doesn't really feel set up from season 1 and more a last minute thing thought up in season 3. Not terrible enough to undercut it, but weird.
And why the fuck didn't Spear have kids yet
Random well intended people form the isekai world.
Bug eye'd dude is in several Pili shows if I remember right, he was in the one that made it to Netflix for sure. He's hard to miss.
Finally, the time travel shou thing is probably the most out there thing, it doesn't really feel set up from season 1 and more a last minute thing thought up in season 3.
It definitely wasn't thought of in S1, Rou wasn't even intended to be a real character until Urobuchi liked the promo puppet for TM Revolution enough to make him into a real character in S2. I think a recent interview confirmed that Duck's and Shou's origins were decided back in during the planning of the second movie or S3.
leave a trail of broken hearts so he can claps demon king's cheeks in hell
what
I haven't watched s4 yet
is there a good release for it by now?
Az dying without any lamenting about the time travel stuff especially felt hollow.
He did all the lamenting back in S04E07. He made it clear at that point that he would accept whatever fate lay in store for him, and this was it.
And, as pointed out in a previous thread, Azibelpher's time travel fuckery has been staring us in the face the whole time. The Shinkai Makai only exist at all because the Void Junction's fuckery caused temporal and spatial distortions, and the Void Junction was only capable of that because Azibelpher pumped it full of Spirit Vein juice. That got Byakuren's estate displaced to Bankou, which is where the swords came from. And the Void Junction only existed at all because Keigai encountered the Labyrinth of Shadows when part of the team going after the Tengyouken. So, two ways in which the consequences of the Void Junction are responsible for its own existence. But we didn't see time travel causing this to be the case because the time travel had already happened, which is the way Azibelpher described it when lamenting to Keigai.
And, when bitching about it, he flat-out told us that his "evil dad" thing was the only thing he had left to care about. Ironically, that was itself a huge motivator behind his time fuckery, since it was hearing Fuyou's voice that convinced him to juice up the Void Junction, wanting to mess with Fuyou is what got him to send Shou back in time to meet Byakuren, and that meeting is what led to the existence of the Wise Lotus Blade, which is what Shou used to ensure the existence of a future in which Fuyou and Tenmei would give birth to him, in turn giving rise to the events of the past that led to Fuyou being in the Demon Realm for Azibelpher to hear.
Whether or not it was all planned from Season 1--though Season 2 is where we should really start counting, since Season 1 was produced without any assumption of subsequent seasons at all--it all fits pretty seamlessly.
also if he'd railed against it, he would have just...used his time powers. He explicitly has "the key to time travel" and it's heavily implied he can use it whenever. It makes his S04 "whatever happens to me I'll assume it was an outcome some other me desired" crucial in allowing the story to exist logically as-is.
Sex with swords
bump
my autistic ass is still waiting for the fansub
but it's out already?
Man, Locust was already at the point where he could have been a God without the swords but because he got too greedy it ended up fucking him over in the end.
nothing feels as epic as Duck flexing his full power in season 1
The major problem I had with Duck vs Demon King was that we never really got to see the Demon King in action other than his fight in the movie, where he jobbed so it's not as impressive as Duck steamrolling 10guy since it was established that 10guy was supposedly a peerless swordsman in Touri. The Demon King's performance was made worse that his whole court falling flat due to S5 getting cut and most of the demons ended up looking bad.
I TURNED MYSELF INTO A BABY, KEN!
I'M BABY SHOU!!!
The Shinkai Makai was always a power that surpassed his own, so he would never rest easy until they were either destroyed or part of his own power. The former would be foolish since the Shinkai Makai are the one thing humanity has to fight back against the demon gods so the latter was his only choice to become the scales.
Apparently the Shou/Tenmei/Gunha voice drama doesnt go into Tenmei's origins or Gunha's adventures with Shou... it's the first meeting between Gunha and Shou with Shou and Tenmei testing if Gunha's behind recent hostilities between Seiyuu and a foreign tribe.
Nta, but yeah. Outside of the movie the Demon King has like one two episodes of screen time before the movie and doesn't do anything
[...]but they decided TBF universe was defined by slutty men.
Fixed that for you.
The decision to make all three of the main cast demon-blooded was something I am on the fence with, especially when it was never alluded to up until the last minute. It felt far more interesting when the consensus was that they were just ordinary humans that somehow outplayed all these divine and immortal villains through sheer cunning and pure skill. The message felt more powerful, in my opinion. Still, it was a great finale and the small detail doesn't take away from how enjoyable the entire series is.
(I had a small hunch the reason why it went this way is because the Butcher is such a chuuni writer that he thought that making every main character have a demonic birthright is such a cool fashionable trope, and that it sets them apart from the rest of the cast)
I'm confused is he the guy from demigod?
Yes, his poem is the same I believe (albeit translated into English differently)
You could argue that Denka removed all of Fuyou's demonic power and blood with her sacrifice which would make Shou a pure human
The only one I have an issue with is Shou, him having demon blood almost comes out of nowhere and it would be better if he was the "normal human" out of the three. Shou's even able to wield Shinkai Makai and use their full powers.
Okay, for some reason I kept thinking about the main guy from War of Dragons. Are we ever going to get the sequel to demigod?
Like... Pili in general, yeah? He's in most of their shows.
7 Blasphemous Subs is the Anon Babble produced, Anon Babble endorsed release
Either way he's still the most diluted demon of them, right? Does half or quarter or eighth blooded matter?
Just use this with the CR release on the cat site (change the filename of the subs file to "name of the video file.ass"). It's just the names and terms switched to Japanese or English, but it's consistent with the previous Japanese name subs and good enough for now:
files.catbox.moe
Azi (IIRC, might've been Kguy) says in S4 that the amount of dilution doesn't matter. As long as you've suffered and anguished enough, even one drop of demon blood can come to the surface and transform you into a full demon.
makes me wonder of demons are just humans that have suffered in some way
They should capture demons and have crazy mad scientist blood infusion experiments.
Inb4 demons are just humans warped by being exposed long enough to the demon gods' miasma
I know, I already downloaded it. There's just a nagging little thing in my mind that makes me want to wait for the fansub. Unless it's no longer being worked on.
a decade ago
Jesus
Humans wouldn't want to make more demons, tho. That sounds more like something demons would do by capturing humans.
I mean, given they can interbreed as proven by Red Bard, they would have to be closely related genetically, so it's not a crazy theory.
spk's cleavage hasn't said anything in the last couple of threads, so it's impossible to say.
Kyarei and Kyuch also didn't seem surprised that bard is a halfbreed. Azi as well seem familiar with how demon genetics work in humans. Human demon hybrids probably aren't that uncommon.
the other Pili shows
Wait wait, there are more puppet shows? Are they as amazing as TF?
Human demon hybrids probably aren't that uncommon
Very likely that there were a lot of human/demon hybrids born as a result of the war, for self-evident reasons.
Love blooming on the battlefield?
I think a sidestory that came with the movie BDs talks about Shou meeting a half demon girl who has a goinshi father and a demon mother
GIWTWM
having a daughter
mfw i collect enough good boy points so my wife lets me use a spear for 30 minutes
This feels even more robbed because Duck's been hyped up to fuck with Locust since season 2. It was 2 seasons building up to the ultimate Duckening to finally break him and he never even meets the guy face to (His own) face. He's off fighting a guy we see for the first time like 3 episodes ago while this thing he switched Mantis for just gets dropped. Kind of a ripoff.
dozens of sword shinkai makai
one axe shinkai makai
zero spear shinkai makai
Sword fags...
KGuy died before learning that her most hated had become the most strongest man in the demon realm
she would've absolutely hated having to suck up to him if she had survived, in the worst kind of tsun way
His (Fuyou's) demon blood isn't just something you can simply knock out of him with some spells. He's literally born into this world a half-demon.
The decision to make all three of the main cast demon-blooded
Technically, Butcher has confirmed that Duck's parents were both 100% human. He has a demonic soul, but full, grade-A unpasteurized human blood.
Hubris and Greed... the constant pitfalls. Tale as old as time. Especially in wuxia. At least he only become a hobo, unlike a certain TOUHOU FUHAI
- Undefeated of the East.
It also makes the world smaller. It's like the SW issue of everything somehow linking back to the Skywalkers despite how big the galaxy is.
Fuck this shit I'm out
finally watched the movie with the fellas. I think we've got the timeline down
Just finished it. Can't believe how much time has flown since season 1. Never thought it would last this long. It's been going on this ride with you Anon Babble.
Are you arranging these on the timeline experienced by others or his own personal timeline?
Great series all around. I'm glad I got to watch it alongside you anons.
The ending is relatively satisfying, with how often nip authors fumbled their series' ending. 4 seasons and 3 movies too, that's better than most anime nowadays. We had a good run puppetbros...
So Fukan didn't go back to the future? Hell, did he even know if those two are his parents? Is Fukan being able to properly wield the Shinkai Makai despite having demon blood a plothole?
I mean, look at Kguy.
He doesn't meet sword god until after he meets Grandpa Himmler, surely, given that Grandpa Himmler is the one who sends him there.
He knew, probably around after the realization about ken and the mask. Hence the mirror leaf he left behind for the guitar man.
I don't know if he knows that they're his parents, but he figured out Retsu Magen being the old man from the way Ryouga's vocal register changed when he got limbs.
Pretty sure it's based on the timeline as observed by others. Isekai man has to be the earliest cuz that's the part where we see and learn about the magic swords being made.
disguised his appearance
not his voice
Sasuga Recchan.
Bard and Ten mei are basically his most trusted allies. If he figured out that future him handed the task to the guitar instead of either Ten Mei or bard, it's not a stretch to make the connection why.
I just watched the 2022 Su Huan Jen Demigod movie. I liked it a lot, goes from comfy slice of life to murder mystery to cosmic wuxia battles pretty smoothly.
For longtime Pili fans, does Su use the clone technique often? Did they ever show the fat tailed Qilin before or after the movie? Are the other Pili characters this OP?
Shou is able to wield the Shinkai Makai because of all the otherworldly training he did in the Void Junction plus he probably had time to inspect and practice with the Shinkai Makai he gathered over the years as the Sword Plundering Nemesis. If you mean how is he able to do it as a quarter demon, I got nothing for that other than what Azibelpher says, that demonhood is a choice for half bloods like Rou and they have to willingly embrace their demonic powers.
Frustrated prime minister (office lady) Kguy having to clean up after Demon King Rin would've been funny
Shocked Azibelpher never got a poem moment desu. I really thought they were just saving it for just the right moment.
Uribochi said he came up with time travel to explain Shou being so powerful, but I don't know where he got the idea for his parentage. Duck's origins were inspired by another promotional puppet, which I find pretty funny.
Azibelpher, Chou Fuu, and Locust all deserved poems.
Azibelpher
Could have happened when he revealed his plot to turn Rou into a demon god in S4.
Chou Fuu
When she stormed the castle or when she began fighting Azibelpher for Rou.
Locust
The sword jacking moment.
how did retsu raise a baby anyway? what did he feed him? does he know how to change diapers?
Yeah, I'm talking about his demon blood. I thought since Locust needs to jailbreak the two Shinkai Makai for Wasp and Spider, that would be a problem. Then again maybe that's it, since Shou never dabbled in heretical magic. If that's the case, it made me wonder. What if there's a random demon who never learn heretical magic? Would he be able to wield a Shinkai Makai, with proper training?
Made to be snuffed by 10guy
Beats me but I want to go back in time to tell myself watching S2 that that pipa raised SHOU FUKAN from a baby.
But he has "trained by spear guy" before "met spear guy", which is confusing.
You kill her enemies with a shinkai makai in exchange for veiled blowjobs, yes or no?
raised by guitar should be floating off to the side since the void junction exists outside of space time
Wish we got to hear Fu You and Tenmei rock out together one last time. A duet of Skybreaker while Shou fights Locust would've been perfect.
Rate the ending anons
7 out of 10
9/10, I think it was great.
8/10
Ken didn't SPEARCOIN hard enough
Locust turned into a sentai monster instead of using his badass gravity magic
Also 9/10. It didn't include everything I wanted, but they stuck the landing and concluded in a satisfying way with a happy ending, which puts it far and away above most series in my mind (let alone that it had a proper ending at all). I know I'll remember it fondly in the coming decades, for sure. Might even go back and give the whole thing a rewatch now and again.
(me)
Think about it.
Imagine a pristine, holy sword, given the greatest mission of the Weapons of Divine Teaching/Shinkai Makai/Shén Huì Mó Xiè - to actually actively hold back a slumbering Demon God. All the other blades, rusting away in shrines, could not hope to claim such glory, such honour.
But then, she's stolen away. Not by any ordinary thief, who wishes for gain, whether in power or gold. Instead, the Bones of Creation, in his hubris, believes only the finest blade may accompany his swordsmanship. He slaughters one of her guardians and sends the other on the run.
No, she begs, this is not what I was meant for. Return me to my rightful place.
And when the truth of her purpose is revealed, what happens? The man who took her laughs, a scumbag of a false hero ends up being the most heroic one there, imploring for her to be returned back to her rightful place. Only for 10guy and Kguy to make a deal, the former's ego putting mankind in peril.
In the end, it all ends in naught, as Rin Setsu A defeats 10guy, stealing his ethos as a swordsman.
And then 10Guy twists her beautiful form to pieces, metal screaming and distorting, and dies from the shrapnel. All just salve his ego after being humiliated by a duck.
Could you imagine the pain, the existential fear and desecration? Something, holy and pure, meant to stand above the petty squabbles of men, being dragged down and destroyed, out of a petty desire for revenge? Imagine...
I'm kinda fucked up aren't I
Lotus Man made the magic swords, he has admin rights to he added Shou to have admin rights to the magic swords as well.
THIS IS MY FETISH. SWORD RYONA SWORD RYONA SWORD RYONA
I'm glad to have found a kindred spirit.
8/10 a lot of great moments and the series themes all tie up nicely, I think Bard's story had the most satisfactory conclusion
Too bad there's no epilogue where Bard and 10may go looking for Shou and end up finding fat Shou.
are you the guy from Anon Babble
Who? I'm genuinely unaware.
8/10
I find it funny how Shou nope'd the fuck out of a final duel with Duck.
I can't believe they deleted her buns. I've never felt this betrayed in all my life.
there was this guy during the start of s4 that was also writing stories on Anon Babble
Interesting. Do you remember anything further?
I've never posted on Anon Babble.
6/10 Passable. Shou being the bards' kid was dumb. I suspect that it wasn't the original plan.
oh shit you're right, that one is relative to shou's time and not the absolute time line, whoops, so it should be later
Yeah, personally I still feel it would be better if he was Spider+Wasps child, if they had a full season 5, they might have been able to bring them back and tell that story.
