Nisemonogatari was so comfortable and nice. Even when watching it for the first time years after it aired it still felt nostalgic to me. I also feel the themes are oddly sweet. Which Monogatari story do you feel this way about?
I still contend that Nise has the best artistic direction and choices.
Nisemonogatari
after so many seasons they all start to blend into each other in my mind
The series needs a recut where the nonsense fanservice and pointless dialogues are removed and made into a cohesive 5h experience.
Nise is the worst monogatari and ruined the series
I just need more Hachikuji looney tunes antics. Nothing has topped the time in hell and I worry we won't get any anymore after Off & Monster.
I also personally feel it was the last truly good ED. The OPs increase in quality over the course of the series but none of the EDs after Nise feel nearly as good as it and Bake's.

It is truly sad. One would think the other girl's sort of drifting away would mean Araragi would have more time to do wild things with the loli trio. Maybe Nisio will give us more in Family Season though. Ikusa did have Shinobu cut the sky and whatever. Hachikuji also joked about marrying Araragi (although it was adult Hachikuji which is revealed to be symbolically significant near the end). Family Season could go anyway still but I hope it returns to the type of stories that Second season and parts of Final season had. Traditional detective stuff doesn't really work with Monogatari.
I find the uncanny anime faces pretty odd next to anatomically detail bodies
probably the most popular ED song
Just because it's >Yoasobi
I mean, there is an obvious reason that is the most popular. It is like it Sodachi was in a collaboration with Burger King International and she instantly became the most talked about character. Don't get me wrong, it is still a good song. I don't really feel like it fits an outro though. It feels very much like "internet music". I think my main gripe though is with the outro animation being slightly boring, although it is better than some that came before it.
Is this the AI Yotsugi?
Pretty cute
Can AI even make a decent yotsugi body with her doll joints
Also trying to google a quick pic of yotsugis doll joints is fucking hell
Google gives you 50000 links to products you can buy and yandex gives you shemale porn results
It is because she only has them in that one theoretical scene. She is a corpse not an actual doll. It is sad in a way though because doll joints are sexy.
google prob has exact image I want in their database but some lobby group decided they cant be shown because its a teen in a nightgown so fuck you
nise = fake
OOGER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
As a fellow Nise fan, i share your sentiment in how confortable and nice it is, its my favorite season just for the best character interactions it has.
However, while it does have the biggest budget and so it naturally looks the nicest from an animation point of view, i think when it comes to artistic direction that Bake is still unsurpassed, it just have that nice mix of early shaft with its own flavor mixed in that later seasons cant replicate, with just the Kizu trilogy coming close.
Terrible opinion
My favorite ED music wise is the first Owari one, visually its just good, not great, but i love the vocals.
While this is the worst one by far.
When I rewatched the series for the new season some arcs felt like a drag that you just grind through to get to some more interesting part.
Nisio wrote a bunch of self contained arcs that barely connect or add to the overarching narrative and a recut could be about the stuff that matters a bit more than the fluff.
Results vary, but with enough gens you could find something decent probably
not bad
The stuff that matters IS the fluff, the "main plot" is not complex nor that interesting by itself, its the dialogue between characters and how they mesh against each other that makes the series entertaining, at least in my view.
They did a "supercut" just like you wished of the Kizu trilogy, cutting all the "grind", turning into one movie, and most if not all the fanbase, myself included, hate it. If you enjoy the monogatari series for the plot exclusively i wont say you are wrong but you are 100% in the minority.
She'll have to be very careful when stroking
I feel extremely nostalgic over bake, but I love Nise ost
I feel that Nise was too long in terms of arcs
the toothbrush scene was 10 minutes long, what was shaft thinking
At least Kizu kept Shinobu butt. They probably knew if they removed that, then absolutely no one would watch the cut.
I liked how they went all out with it, turning it into essentially a sex scene. That is one of the nice things Shaft can do in general. It is sad that as the series went on, they got more boring in how they adapted things. Maybe they'll pick up certain things to fixate on again if Monster season ends up boring. Shaft does still know when to add an original visual or two, Nadeko Draw was full of them.
what in the fuck is that huge workflow? very hot though
Would you be a wage slave if your boss was Yotsugi?
My brain isnt wired at all to tolerate jap work culture. You prob need lifelond indoctrination for it, else you get youtube videos of expats saying "dont do it, dont work in japan, AAAA"
If it was 40h weeks with access to playing with dolls then Id consider it.
which one was that again?
based
It's the one with the tooth brushing scene.
I liked Nise a lot but it has been like 20 years since I watched it so I don't remember shit.
Actually I like every Monogatari. I love them all. And I'm so glad they are still making them and they aren't turning into shit.
Well, half of the new season wasnt shit.
Which half was shit? I thought everything was fine and I got what I wanted.

This YouTube link should have the whole ED. It feels like an improvement on the design Bake had. I especially like the part where the sisters are walking and you see inside them, the flipbook like part with Shinobu bathing, and the weird head cage thing with a heart in it. I generally like expressive drawings where they move with the music. I also like the sort of vagueness where you can try to guess what some things represent.
The part with doll having yuri adventures with bird and snake were 10/10
The past flashback was 7/10
The mystery detective arc about vampire killer was lame.
I love Monogatari too but I wonder when it will end.
I really liked the flashback episode. The vampire arc was erm eh. But it wasn't bad.
nise benefited from having a bigger budget than bake.
Anon, please don't ask or inquire about this. I'm not even saying anon's complaints wouldn't be valid, but it is like a mind virus. I personally am suggestible enough that hearing these sentiments has infiltrated my brain. The whole "new is lame" it makes it hard to enjoy stuff as you will always be looking for flaws. Then you are left wondering occasionally, when you can realize that something is in essence the same, but still feel bad about it and unhappy.
If you look how many LNs they have it's never going to end.
it will end when NisioIsin dies.
Nisio also could randomly decide to suddenly pump out an entire season in a year. Shaft won't ever catch up but is committed to it all because it makes money and they have sort of made the characters their own so it is their only chance to play with them. A cyborg Nisio will still be writing Monogatari 100 years in the future and an AI modeled off of Shinbo will be leading the adaptation.
Is this like a boomer series now?
The ai stuff is kinda inevitable.
If the computer can shit out animation its thousands of times cheaper than doing it manually so the first companies to crack it and get AI anime on tv will only mean the floodgates will open
100+ hour work weeks till you piss/shit blood or just straight up die is not my idea of a good time.
Theres that kowloon anime popular right now among hag lovers
Theres a guy who works in office where he comes in at 0900 and leaves at 1800 and his coworker is mad he doesn't stay for overtime
just asian things.
what's your parameters for a "boomer series"?
The kids these days don't watch it or know about it.
The ED for Off Season & Monster Season has 49 million views.
Renai Circulation made a resurgence as a meme on TikTok. It is also still used as a generic anime song. I'm sure there has to be a few people who get curious where it comes from and then watch. I've seen a video where like a mother and child dance to it which is humorous if you know some of the stuff the source material includes.
Sure but you have to watch the original. And even Nisemonogatari.
bakemono is the single most timeless anime seasons out there
kids should be watching it as a classic
Bakemonogatari ep 12 is the best anime episode ever done.
I recently rewatched it. I forgot how insanely great the visit with Nadeko was.
Nadeko wants dick so hard in that scene.
The LN scene felt a bit different from the anime portrayal
Did Shaft make her hornier?
Araragis internal thoughts are different
If they did, that was the right choice.
I love Monogatari and I'm impatiently waiting for tsugi.
Yep.
I didn't know who Yoasobi was until after I heard that banger of an ED. I admit I listened to his other stuff and didn't like most of it, but Undead is great.
Realistically this situation would've ended in sex. I suppose it is good it didn't though because one of her parents ended up coming home in the middle which is how Araragi left in the first place. They would've been caught if sex actually happened.
Sex can't happen in Monogatari. Even if it should.
In a year or two we will be able to feed the first couple minutes of this scene to an AI and it can output a porno based on the direction it was headed. SOON.
It probably already exists because it's so obvious where this was going. And they showed this on TV over 10 years ago.
For me it's Koimonogatari. My favorites were Bakemono and Nekomono Shiro but Koimonogatari is the one that feels the most "comfortable and nice." Even if it's sold as a lie, it's about following your dreams and being true to yourself, and it's also about love. Kaiki being cynical only makes it more fun.
the series needs a recut where you remove all the things that are good about it and turn it into soulless shonenslop
No.
Monogatari is like tastefully done shounenslop at times.
There should be a "here be plot, these things happend and it led to this new season" that has the filler cut out so people can check it out and jumpt in the next new season.
Its getting a bit difficult to onboard people under 30y with "heres watch order for the >100 episodes that exist, if you dont watch it all you cant be our pal"
I've watched every season and I'm still confused.
you should really learn what "filler" means. Also it's just common sense that if you watch something without starting at the beginning, you won't know what's going on. If that filters you then get filtered I guess.
In Monogatari it's a feature that sometimes you don't get what's going on. And I think it's fine. Or maybe I'm a brainlet.
something is lost when you skip several pages of LN and put up a flash card that has text on it for half a second explaining what happened
For as good as Shaft's adaptations are, they still end up skipping a ton from the novels, and the things that get skipped tend to be narration that reveals intent and explanations of how apparitions work. The series still functions without these things but is harder to understand
I think they're doing their best job to manage this shit.
