Her getting some level of development throughout the episode only to be cut down instantly and have a montage dedicated to her death and her place in life being immediately filled felt insane even coming off of the post-death humanization in episode 2 though

The main plot is that there was an ominous conspiracy regarding Satoko being the most dangerous ninja alive and she was being mind controlled into being unable to distinguish people and the entire village was meant to keep her contained and her actual power is some reality manipulation bullshit or something.

Didn't read second part. There is no clear overarching plot other than surviving the constant attacks from the village. Plus some sideplots that very slowly get developed and tied together. Killings never stopped tho. In fact, Vol5 is a slaughter. Current arc in RAW is the pair being headhunted by another escapee who opened a company to use ninjutsu for the common good.

She was kept constantly hypnotized, she's the only ninja they're bothering to hunt, she tried to run away multiple times and they always allowed her back (the other ninja even say that this is weird because every other runaway got killed off), and it feels like she's only using her ability in a very superficial level since from the necromancer ninja chapter they said she should be able to use more transformations.
