Does anyone like Tokyo Mew Mew?

Looks like a bootleg card captor sakura

Why do you think so?

I watched most of the recent remake but never quite got round to finishing it I really should do so soon.

When what'shisname gave her the collar in that moment I felt I truly understood female sexuality

Aoyama

I want to know who here likes it

I had a DVD of it back in the day. I don't remember anything about the show. Are the original series and remake any good?

Does anyone have anything to say about the series?

I know I did. Not sure if it was the anime I saw on TV back in the day though, but I'm glad to have watched it.
I haven't watched a lot of classic magical girls but I think the directing of a few episodes were pretty good, iirc. Surprising stuff. The pacing was pretty good, too.

The monke is pure sex. That's all I know.

Zakuro is best girl. Mint has great taste

they look so cute!! might get into it now

Ignoring the resident schizo, it's actually pretty good for magical girl standards. It's not great but it's entertaining and the characters are likable

I've probably had it on my hard drive for longer now than the average 2025 Anon Babblenon has been wiping by themselves. Maybe I should actually watch it.

watching a remake

You have at least watched the original right

Zoomers can't get into 50 episodes shows

i own the manga.

It's so obvious that Mia Ikumi was a closeted lesbian. And she never married

She's engaged with an adult man in the 2002 continuity

It was okay.

The green one was the hottest.

When I was younger, top left was the hottest. Today, bottom right is the hottest for me.

The remake actually gets good near the end when the plot finally starts to come together and there's a big tonal shift and all the cringy poses are gone and suddenly there's doom rock background music and it actually feels serious.
Before that it was shit and only saved by that Quiche in it though.
Just imagine being raped by Quiche in front of whatshisname fagyama, begging the latter not to look but also being unable to truly refuse the carnal pleasures from Quiche.

Also, fagyama actually becomes extremely relevant near the end rather than doing nothing interesting at all in a way that feels quite planned.

What do you think the show does well?

I admit the reason I made this thread is because Mew Mew is my favorite media ever

We know. At least you're not blogging about your life.
Riddle me this, why do you think so? Especially when you don't seem to like Quiche.

Been waiting for this thread OP! Hope you are doing alright.
I watched the remake and I definitely liked it a lot. Overall, I think I liked the original better. I didn't like the way the remake portrayed Pudding. Minto had a lot more screentime and felt more developed. Towards the end Minto mentioned Ichigo is probably her best friend and I really felt that more in the remake than in the original. Lettuce was great as always. Zakuro was Zakuro. I think both anime have their pros and cons. Like, there are things the original did better than the remake and there are different things the remake did better than the original. If you combined both shows and left out all the bad parts, it'd be perfect lol.

Pudding

I was going to ask whether there was actually a translation that unironically was dumb enough to turn Bùlíng's name into that but it's probably meant to be a pun even in the original Japanese honestly..

Anyway, it's a Chinaman with a Chinese name, but without the beautiful Chinaman robes and hair.

Anyway, all the Mew Mews are obnoxious pieces of shit. Only good part is Quiche character wise. People actually watching this because they like the magical girls are insane and have obscenely bad taste. They are all beyond obnoxious. Especially Mint and Bùlíng's role language is just too annoying to listen to.

I never said I didn't like Quiche. I like Quiche, I just only like him as an antagonist. I don't ship him with Ichigo. I find him an interesting character

I'm doing alright now

Is it weird that one of the reasons I like Tokyo Mew Mew is because of the colors?

According to Ikumi herself, she liked to draw cute girls hugging each other

It's a shame they're all obnoxious.

I wouldn't know about weird, but I hate the fact that there are people who like this title for any other reason than Quiche.

I admit I like when art styles are very colorful. It's also why I love the obscure cartoon PB&J Otter and it's why I look forward to eventually watching Ojamajo Doremi

Anyone?

It's also why I love the obscure cartoon PB&J Otter

What's that?

a preschool cartoon about three Otters in their daily life and when a problem happens, they have to figure out the solution to their problem. They do a noodle dance to think of solutions to problems

me

Anyone here?

I liked the original OP.

I was wondering, would you say Tokyo Mew Mew is the type of series that would've been on Adult Swim if say, instead of 4Kids getting it, Viz or Funimation got it? I only ask this because while its considered a kids anime, one could say Inuyasha, Fullmetal Alchemist, and Bleach are kids anime and they were all on Adult Swim. Yu Yu Hakusho was also on Adult Swim briefly before being moved to Cartoon Network during Toonami as well

don't worry, it's not even close to captor sakura

They're practically canon in the new version

So who's your favorite character?
