Just finished this
I thought it was pretty good
I liked how slowly the world was revealed and the pacing
I liked the character for the most part
And I liked the story
I get the le theme is about survival and the will to live- directly represented early on by the main guy's determination to not die and stuff, and that later on it poses these "higher" questions about what it means to be alive and what it means to be human. At which point does someone stop being human- does that matter if theyre still alive, etc, etc. It was quite a sad ending desu wa ne. I enjoyed it, but I don't think I would put this on the same level of some of the others from around its time, like lain, for example, which is a masterpiece. Or ergo proxy, which I thought overall was a tad better
Also, I would pump my seed so deep inside Doc it would turn my balls into rasins fix her infertility
Anyone wanna talk some more in-depth about it? I'm sure theres some lore stuff I'm missing and things I didn't get
Basically humanity was dying out for [reasons] and some part of them, perhaps prisoners, were sent underground to farm/mine raffia, which is a based off the real life plant rafflesia, and used to modify the body via texhnolyzation. So they were basically testing on themselves the whole time to see if humanity could "survive" that way, but the people still above ground long since stopped giving a shit. The "bigbad" guy's whole plan was to turn everyone into plants or some shit idk

Good cinematography in this anime. The few fight scenes there are end up punchy as hell just because the shots are well cut together. Too bad about the digital zooms and pans, otherwise the scenes display exciting sequences of angles.

Pretty much, but "living" up on the surface probably means he will slowly succumb to the same ghostlyness that the others are trapped in. Whether it's a physical ghostliness and they remain "alive" somehow through speaking via radio, or just an ideology of "fading away" or whatever, idk man that part was weird

One thing I just realized is that we don't actually see any children or babies or anything in the show, unless I missed them? Ren is the youngest person we see as far as I can tell. Doc said she knew she was infertile from a young age. Is it possible that ichise's generation was basically the last one able to be born? That's why most of the people we see are his age or older AND why there was this push by the faggotretard to "evolve" everyone so suddenly. That everyone knew humanity was coming to direct extinction and that's why there were such drastic measures put in place. Maybe Doc wanted to fuck ichise so much because she was trying to solve her (and everyone else's) infertility via texhnolyzation? She said towards the end while making him hug her tightly

its just bad. everything about it. i hate the "little girl thats wearing a pajama all the time" stereotype, yet that robot was by far the most likeable character.
the show seemed to take itself very seriously, but it was just some gay digimons fighting about nothing. and the MCs progression from tame to jaded was done so fucking badly it was almost funny.

He was born fucked, he needed mechanic limbs, he decided that he was going to drag down everyone to a level below that. That twist at the end, where he reveals he just did it because he felt like it, for no reason at all, is immaculate. One of my favorite characters ever

I thought the exemplary quality of the directing was really on the nose, but I made some people obsessed with the "production" side of things, Shaft fans specifically, and they didn't think it was impressive. Maybe they just need flashy visuals.
