I never finished it because by the time season 2 came out I had already overcome maximum anime autism. How is that even possible? Not only it seems like the most logical pair, but it was also endlessly pushed by the story itself.

Well, because they have the whole frenemies thing going on, both are from the same world and fell into earth as sworn enemies and then began hanging out and getting close. The story itself always tried to push them together by putting them into very specific situations, like the baby stuff, which is like, the most on the nose thing that could have possibly happen. Also, the interactions between him and the other girl aren't as fleshed out and common, so it seems weird that something was developed between them.

No, it's not about them being enemies, it's about how they were enemies, and then their relationship developed to a point where they got along, which not only means that their relationship is the most elaborate one, but that it's the one who has actualluy gone to a point of something bigger, and then, like I said, the story itself put them into particular situations that seemed to hint what their relationship was going to end up being.
How does any of that makes it "logical" they end up together?, Neither at any point show romantic feelings for the other, the story forcing them together despite this would be illogical
