What was the point of this?

What was the point of this?

robot battles are mostly unimportant and feel like an afterthought

tries to focus on characters but there's 15 of them

about half are aren't developed at all

the remaining ones usually die the same episode they get some or the episode after

none of them are interesting anyway

the human investigation of Zearth plotline leads nowhere

there's some very awkward attempt at human political theatre in the background but it's handled awfully and is extremely provincial (giant mech fights for the survival of the universe and the fucking Yakuza and some councillors are involved? Come on)

It feels like the entire thing is a mess of 5 different shows strung together only by the central robot, which somehow still gets too little attention and isn't the focus.

The author is an edgy fag who gets off on forced drama and suffering. Check out his other works, they're the same shit

Every anime that pulls the

alien

card becomes unsatisfactory it's usually best to forget future episodes exist, bokurano is no exception

>alien

It's even worse than usual in Bokurano because it's literally:

it's aliens

and they made it bad to research what the robot is or something

oh ok

That's it, I don't recall it ever being expanded upon more than that.

They didn't really "pull the alien card" when it's there from the beginning.

yet they failed to expand on the mechanics and the beings behind it, it wasn't resolved at all either

Mangachad here, something something you've watched a shitty fanfic

Now go read Narutaru

Ignore the anime. The director didn't like the manga, so he changed everything in the second half. It was absolute trash. The manga was much better, more brutal but at the same time more focused. The part where they annihilate an entire world, person by person, was amazing.

I remember it fondly but I liked the OP song and thought some of the girls were hot

What was the point of this?

It was one of those dark deconstructions of giant robot anime that came out trying to capitalize on Evangelions success.

man, imagine watching the anime instead of reading the manga first.

My exact reaction. What the fuck, that scene's the whole lynchpin of the entire plot.

It was a redundant scene, we've already seen the other kids kill an entire universe multiple time, there's no point on showing the same thing yet again

Do you just not do any screening at all before putting titles in your backlog? What's the difference between this and watching the crud seasonally while it's airing? Is it literally just the waiting a whole week for the next episode?

this one is different in that the kid kills every single human on the planet one by one personally

evangelion made a gorillion yen, quick approve any proposal with a mech that seems dark

A distinction without a difference

nope

it was alright, found it kind of odd how the friend group just accepted one guy beating the shit out of his little sister apart from one

It's just misery porn for redditards.

misery is a valid emotion. no reason why i can't enjoy misery porn just like others enjoy their kawaii porn or action porn.

Didn’t eva fail

The director hated the manga and changed it for the worse. Read the manga instead.

The manga is ultimately about dealing with catastrophe and moving on. It's not really a problem to be solved, and the reason is unimportant. It's about these kids being put through the emotional wringer.

Because you watched fan fiction. There were no "beings behind it" in the manga.

hell no they were making money hand over fist on home video, ticket sales and every kind of merch under the sun. where did you hear that?

Every series I see that's called misery porn is actually pretty optimistic about how to face hardships and move forward. Learn from life. Do better. Try your best to not make the mistakes of old people.

This moment made me shit myself when I first read it

This is because Hope only exists when juxtaposed against Despair. Instead of being crushed you long for a better world and dream.

I've also seen people call Bokurano "nihilistic" when there's an entire chapter dedicated to shitting on nihilism.

What aliens? It was humans from a different universe sucking up the energy from the ones that lost.

What was the point of this?

To advertise the manga like every other anime before your time. Go read the fucking manga then form your own opions.

On hindsight, the final battle really was miseryporn to make us feel bad for Jun even if he threated his sister like shit. Really should have listened to dungbeetle.

It's just because they don't bother to read beyond the premise.
It's actually one story that really values life, to the point that it's worth giving yours to defend those you care about. That even if there countless worlds out there, (you) are still unique and irreplaceable.

This is still the worst anime I've ever finished

Not OP, but manga is the only version I've seen and it's exactly as OP described it.

finally read the manga because of this post

reached the Chizuru Honda chapter

I remember this manga being full of babby's first philosophy course sophistry and setups for weird jingoism. This chapter in particular frustrated me to no end because of how fucking long-winded and poorly formed its arguments are.

how does this garbage get 40 replies?
this shit should stay forgotten

Now imagine a much shittier version of that. That's the anime.

The difference is in intent. It's one thing to push a button and kill all humans. It's another to pinpoint each and every human individually and kill it.
