Actually, the sports part is what makes blue box good, a major complaint about romance MC's is that they're non-entites with no goals or nothing going on for them, while Taiki having a goal and striving towards it is what makes him and interesting and somewhat attractive character and explains why someone might fall in love in him.
The biggest indicator of Kiyoshi's future will be what it gets for first anniversary. Alternatively, if they trademark Hima-ten in June but not Kiyoshi you can say it's getting axed.
