A big part of what motivates Denji is being able to eat food, humans are often shown going to restaurants (and important events usually occur whenever they do), devils are shown eating humans and being fed blood, Pochita and Death's main ability involves eating, Denji's defeat of Makima involved eating, etc. It seems to me like there's an underlying theme of consumption that pervades the whole manga.
