Precure is this weird thing that sits outside of the standard Magical Girl fare for the same reason Sentai and Rider sit outside the usual Superhero fare. It's yearly with a new cast, so you can't really point to one specific cure as being the 'Face' of Precure except maybe the first two. It's ongoing, so most old fans will probably be completely disconnected from old fans, and most new fans wouldn't be polled because they're like 5 years old.

Ive only seen/read Sailor Moon as far as conventional mahou shoujo is concerned but I've seen a number of things adjavent of the convention genre like Cutey Honey, Mahou Shoujo Tokushuusen Asuka etc.
