If you read the story of Dragon Ball Online you'll see it lines up very well with Dragon Ball Daima. DBS was a cashgrab that he didn't really write, he just made outlines of how things would happen and then Toei/Toyotarou filled in the rest.

What I mean is that Toriyama did try to keep the story consistent throughout the decades even though he did retcon a lot (like Bardock being a savage Saiyan that sent Goku to conquer Earth) and he admitted to have forgotten things in the past (Launch, Goten and Trunks having no tail, etc.) meanwhile Araki just pretends that it was all part of his master plan.
