chobits

aired on american television

forgotten

retard? only the shitty sequels are forgotten

it's on my to-watch list..

As they should be.

Watch it, nerd. It's great.

Treating Eureka Seven as a benchmark for what counts as forgotten I'd say Wolf's Rain qualifies.

I remember this weird girl eats jam with her hands.

I don't think Eureka Seven is forgotten.
Isn't it supposed to be one of babby's first anime?
I sure haven't forgotten it.

Just rewatched that a few months ago, after originally seeing it when it aired on Adult Swim.

What about Kiddy Grade? I only know about it because my ultra weeb friend was watching it when I was in high school.

lol I remember that series getting fucked by a SARS outbreak in Japan. Four recap episodes. FOUR.

Noein
Gankutsuou
Scrapped Princess

It was terrible. The story was allover the place trying to imitate Eva, the MCs where whiny bitches, the mentor character was a true asshole, his girlfriend used to fuck his brother for absolutely no relevant story reasons and the crew was insufferable.
The decent characters where anemone, her boyfriend and that couple that gets killed

I can't forget it because of the great music

only noein out of these
gankutsuou is a classic

Man I feel like a ton of shit's been forgotten because most people into anime now are really just in it for the hype culture and aren't going to watch older series besides the ultra well known ones.

Le Chevalier D'Eon

Oh yeah I finished it last night for the first time and I was thinking. '4 recap episodes in a row is an... interesting choice'.
I was also wondering, because while the rest of the show is hardly the most cherry experience, if those last 4 episodes at the end were OVAs because of just how bleak they were.

Last Exile

Blame it on the sequel season.

Read or Die

I am surprised Wolf's Rain didn't get a second wind as a furry title,

senpai fan fan > renton

Decent show, but it was honestly too bloated. There was no need for 24 episodes.

Mushishi

Space opera that was not quite full on mecha, and with absolute KILLER opening song. Heroic Age.

Despite being about anthropomorphic wolves they don't really have that 'inbetween' form to really be considered furry, they are outright human looking or outright wolf looking, hard cut, no transformation sequence.

the MCs where whiny bitches

Renton didn't actually bother me that much. Even if he could be a bit annoying and bratty, he at least consistently gave it his all and kept trying to find ways to become a useful part of the crew despite them treating him like shit 90% of the time.

It wasn't terrible, it was inconsistent, on one hand it tries to be a cool and groovy anime about a team of surfers, on the other hand, it's a war drama, it would be way better if they toned down the drama. I understand it's anime, but Renton was a kid who just wanted to be cool but became a war criminal, married man with a bunch of adopted kids in 16(?)

There are few better examples than Xam'd.

its sad because they had an interesting world but no real focus on what to do with it

Never got around to watching it, it's that bad?

I don't really think it's forgotten because it's based on Tezuka's manga, but Hidamari no Ki is 25 years old now. Two protagonists, samurai and doctor, with complete opposite views on state of things in Japan during the 1850s. Surprisingly cute female characters for what few there were, too.

Speed Grapher

Good taste anon.

The opening episodes are fantastic. Great world and character building, creating this interesting world and cast mostly just be seeing how it's all playing out with little in the way of crass, obvious explanation.

And then, like, as soon as they on that fucking airship it all goes to shit. Which was obviously the point, to contrast Renton's idolization of them with the harsh, messy reality, but goddamn does it annoy me on every rewatch.

She should swap hair length with green

Basically half of 00s anime, even shows that were fairly big on Anon Babble when I was growing up.
My benchmark for forgotten being "how easy is it to find a clip of this moment from that show on YouTube" which seems like a reasonable test for how memorable it is for other people as well as myself.
Shocker, hardly anything I look for is uploaded, meanwhile anything from the 10s is pretty easily findable.

that's just the passage of time, sadly. many people just watch seasonal shows and will rather watch any currently airing drivel than go back some years and watch the good shows.

Which was obviously the point, to contrast Renton's idolization of them with the harsh, messy reality

They went so overboard with it that it became ridiculous and annoying. Just like the telenovela tier war drama

It's kinda funny the show failed to do well the trope of asshole with a heart of gold with Holland. It one of the easiest tropes to pull and they failed

Holy fuck this took me on a trip down memory lane. It's been years since I last heard that anime name.

pretty much this, before every show coming out of Japan got subbed in real time weebs had what, 5-6 new shows a season because both less anime was being made and fansubbers tended to pick the main shows of the season, so you ended up watching backlog or rewatching shows - now there's too much, not to mention there is a lot of other things competing for attention.

Anything actual fantasy that's not Record of Lodoss War which is basically remembered because "it's like anime D&D campaign".

If you want to be the most basic bitch seasonal listings on MAL go all the way back to the '60s. Nothing is stopping someone to watch the old shows.

Were they even trying to make Holland out to be an asshole with a heart of gold for most of the series? You could probably make a point that he was one deep down, but the story was pretty much from Renton's pov and for all he knew, Holland just genuinely fucking hated him

The story was allover the place trying to imitate Eva

You are retarded.

Eureka Seven is a 2000s Mobile Suit Gundam remake.

For you to compare it to Eva means you've only seen like 2 anime.

It didn't exactly get forgotten. It's just that the movies were so fucking bad that nobody wanted to remember this shit.

The original anime was great. Everything else after were dogshit.

trope of asshole with a heart of gold with Holland.

That is not the point of Holland's character you idiot.
He's a failed version of Renton.

Holland is what happens when you reach the age of 27 without growing up.
He's all of Renton's childish tendencies in a grown ass man.
His whole arc in the series is learning to man up and be a proper leader instead of being a stoner manchild.

shit isn't even that good but mogs most of the lazy, cgi moseshit that is made these days. SAD

I'm watching this now, possibly the worst Ocean dub in existence.

think i watched it subbed, can't remember. really underrated series though.

It was surprisingly good. Cute Tarzan esque romance too.

That is not the point of Holland's character you idiot.

His whole arc in the series is learning to man up and be a proper leader instead of being a stoner manchild.

Anon, that is the fucking trope of "asshole with an heart of gold"

Well the casting isnt bad but its very obvious with pauses in dialogue to match mouths. Starts out slow until they reach the Baron then it picked up for me. I'm also a sucker or orchestral OP's.

Not as forgotten as Trigger's smaller projects, but a pretty bad fall from grace for a big-name project of theirs. Don't even see its nice OP/ED posted anywhere anymore.

file.jpg - 700x1000, 96.79K

name 3 anime that's like a D&D campaign cause that sounds fun

i still watched now and then along with Kino and Lain. They were my first animes. used to watch them on Animax

Eh, references to Yuno everywhere, Marriage of Murder and Lies and that Banzai serialization

I think pretty much every VA from this series very much only had that one role.

Karas won multiple awards but no one talks about it at all, it like if blade, the crow, toku had a baby

"Asshole with a heart of gold" is a character who's an asshole for good reasons or with good motivations, such as deterring a main character from doing something stupid like joining a military group because they're a kid. Being an asshole because you haven't grown up != "a heat of gold".

Slayers.
Slayers R.
Slayers Try.

Holland is an asshole because of his "sad melodramatic past" and "the burden of having to save the world"

Charles is not qualified to be a father. Nor is the dried eggs girl qualified to be a mother

Sure. That's not "heart of gold" though that's just trauma. It's an entirely different character motivation / trope.

I remember a guy in the OVA saying something along the lines of

I have mastered the martial arts

and then started spitting fire kek

Never heard of "wanting to save the world" as trauma anon! You never know how much you can learn!

The OVA's always one of my go-tos for introducing someone to anime. Yomiko is adorable.

I fell for the meme when this came out, so many people saying it was some kind of master piece. IT WAS LAME AF. Utterly disgusting.

I watched it as a child when it was on tv and I don't remember anything. Was it good?

So I should watch all the good shows from the last 25 years?

odd taxi.jpg - 1280x720, 120.75K

Okay, you got me anon, I have no idea what this is

My melanin infused sibling

read or die.gif - 430x335, 1.01M

Wait this isn't any soccer?

That is very good paper

Yes and once you have done that you can be depressed like me because there is nothing left to watch.

It's funny because if you do this you'll see some growing pains in the early 2000s when CGI was starting to get used.
