The AU parts feel wrong without Amuro. Machu is fun to watch but the main characters and their motivations do feel underdeveloped. The central conflict is about two girls wanting to get fucked by the same guy who's barely a character. I don't find that very compelling.

Poor Nyaan is in even more danger with Zeon than one might expect. Kycillia's obviously going to try to kill her to trigger something like a Zeknova or to fuel the Solar Ray or something if she can't get it to work like the 0079 one, but even Gihren's spies are trying to kill her immediately. Xavier is also almost absolutely worthless, he didn't even fire one shot at Miguel, he was only good for distracting Miguel long enough for Nyaan to flip the table without being noticed. Heck, with just a small narrative tweak, Miguel could have mentioned the Diablos on his own and Nyaan could have incinerated him with a funnel while still sitting at the table. Even when Xavier matters, it feels like the minor moment is out of pity.

Nyaan's circumstances are interesting though, and Machu's atmospheric reentry is quite the hook to make you wonder how she pulled off her escape. Based on the preview, the text message sender might be able to hack the Sodon, or they're on its crew (they're probably Chalia) and can ensure certain doors get left unlocked. We'll also see what's up with GQuack's Lalah, and how her meeting with Char went compared to 0079.

Why would it take place across multiple episodes? They needed to:
a) Establish Nyaan's intelligence
b) Establish that Nyaan can actually pilot the FreD
c) Showcase the consequences of the cold war between Kycilia and Gihren and give more character depth to Kycilia in explaining why she cooks her own food
There is no reason to drag out the story when it can be efficiently resolved in an impactful single episode. On the other hand, the episode had the introduction of Gihren's Cyber Newtype clones, the introduction of actual scientists working on the superweapon, and bringing Char back before the finale. These are things that a simple 12 episode show just doesn't need.

Introducing post-timeskip Char and Lalah as actual character is what makes it feel like the show isn't ending in just 4 episodes, because it would be easier and more impactful to just have them in the finale.

Also: some of the Build Fighters kits are just vintage kits from the 90's with some extra new gubbinz, so be wary. Fun kits in that line but stuff like the Kampfer Amazing is the ancient Kampfer kit that has poor gun posing (stable as shit and cool to look at tho).

It's not that hard to find it in desuarchive if you remember they are written as dialogues and the characters say one another's names. I just put in whatever combination of names if I need to reference back to something I wrote previously.
