I said the original version of the fight, where Saitama sits Garou down in a living room to scold him, was retconned like two weeks after and the story suddenly came up with the whole Cosmic Garou which lead into the time travel. Of course Genos' death wouldn't stick, everyone knew that, but that's just one tiny part of that entire panic rewrite.

Even better. We still missed off a bunch of dialogue between Sonic and Flash from the webcomic too in favor of Blast. Oh and no killing the ninjas. Just waiting for the chapter that says the paradisers were fine after having their heads reattached at hospital now.

The drop in lethality in this manga is hilarious to see. The Sweetmask and mercenaries retcon was necessary because Murata made a wrong assumption about Sweet Mask, so that's an honest mistake. But with the ninjas in particular it's downright comical.

Flash kills the two monster ninjas, later on Phoenix Man turns them into zombies but they die again

Flashforward into the redraws, Now they're resurrected for good and have a gag scene with Saitama

I've seen people unironically saying they prefer Empty Void in the manga to the webcomic because "the webcomic did him dirty, manga Empty Void was an interesting character". Ignoring the fact that the webcomic didn't do him dirty, because he wasn't a character, he was a fucking punchline developed in the background while Flash and Sonic got their character moments, how do you even come to the conclusion that what was written made him a GOOD character? You can expand on "the lore" (there isn't much of it, and the webcomic will handle it eventually, so I don't know why Murata is in such a hurry) but why in the ninja arc, and why using fucking That Man as a vessel for it? The focus of the arc is on Sonic and Flash, not Saitama, and certainly not Blast. The entire point of That Man is that he's an over the top, generic ninja shonen bad guy that's built up by every character throughout the arc until the one time he physically shows, at which point he gets pancaked into the ground and is never seen again. Fleshing him out defeats the purpose of the joke that the entire arc builds towards.

Guess you're right. "Drop in kills made by heroes" would be more accurate, as part of Murata's campaign to sanitize heroes.

Murata's biggest problem is trying to have god front and center. The whole thing could have worked out with flash and sonic as the a plot, blast and void as the b plot in a separate area while trying to somehow parallel the two gay ninjas, and siatama as the c plot and punchline, but both previous takes tried to have it all be a cohesive direct line to god, which failed massively.

I just wish there was a way of reconciling penguin and OG Phoenixman version, I don't dislike the idea of a suit dimensión I just hate that they stole a lot of cool stuff from both characters that had a legitimately good fight without interfering much on other characters.
