Anon Babble here. Does Anon Babble like anime conventions? Any in the near future you’re planning to show up at?
Anime Conventions
They're a fucking ripoff.
no I'm not a normalfag
Where does this idea come from? And either way, surely the only way to combat normalfag presence at nerd conventions is to actually show up to them yourself?
Cons aren't that expensive but unless you cosplay you're treated as a second class citizen.
No, I don't want to be anywhere near you dweebs.
They're OK. It's an overrated experience in this day and age but it can be fun with a good group of friends if you have the right expectations. They aren't worth paying a lot of money for IMO. The thing about anime conventions is that they were definitely more 'necessary' before we lived in such a hyperconnected world, a lot of their value came from the implicit scarcity of what was being offered. They're basically trade shows so if you aren't planning on doing a lot of shopping you're sort of wasting your time and when it was more difficult and expensive to import from Japan anime conventions held more value. It was also harder to meet likeminded people. Things like announcements held more weight when you otherwise would have to wait for an announcement in a magazine. And so on. I still like going, while they're bigger than ever I can tell it's not the same.
everyone there watches only trash shounen so no
There's literally cr*nchyroll garbage on the photo
yikes
The western ones suck because they're pretty much tradeshows for licensors.
I went to C88 in 2015 and it sucked. Hot girls though.
Expensive but if you like to party they're worth it, or if you like cosplaying/seeing the cosplayers. YMMV depending on what country the con is in though, Americans are easier to talk to and make friends with than any other country.
For actual industry announcements, nothing beats AX in the west as the guests and announcements are the best (if you can get over how expensive and overcrowded it is). The best cosplayers go to Dragoncon and Katsucon, and the best parties are at Colossalcon.
Comiket isn't an anime con retard.
It's not? How is it different?
than any other country
Nice meme.
I wanted to go to one this weekend but something came up. It had been years since I'd been to one till last year I finally had a friend to take along. It was a lot of fun. I hope to go to another one in Valencia next month.
It's a doujin comic market for artists and circles to sell their goods, not a fan meet-up. Western con culture is (supposedly) about the events and meeting like-minded people more it is a place of vendors to hawk.
i went to comic con and it just seem like a bunch of booths trying to sell shit that was more expensive, like a comic would be cheaper in Barnes & noble. I assume anime ones are the same.
Alright but it wasn't great. Here's my Miku wife from back then. I wonder what she's doing.
Why would you want to meet up with normalfags? Real weaboos go to comiket and the Anon Babble meetup afterwards.
that's a man
It was not a man.
Real weaboos go to comiket and the Anon Babble meetup afterwards
So true sis.
Americans will approach you with a beer and be your best friend, Finns do not.
Jesus Christ, I can only imagine the amount of troons who attend this kind of conventions today. It must be looking like AGDQ.
I wish there was a healthy doujin scene like in japan instead of these corporate cons.
It's not in Japan either. It's gotten really bad.
Fanbox and subscribestar have pretty much killed the doujin scene. It's easier to shit out 3 pictures a month than make an entire comic.
A friend of mine was an exchange student there for 6 months or something. And he knows anime shit. Basically Akihabara has become corporate crap and all the doujinshi scene is almost gone.
Your cons are probably different from American ones, SEA friend.
yeah what happened to akiba is tragic
No it's not.
I’m french.
Basically Akihabara has become corporate crap
Wasn't that always the case? What changed?
would
I have finished over 700 anime and i never tell anyone i used to watch anime, let alone go to a convention full of normalfag cancer
Modern anime and its modern watchers are cancer
t'es pd?
Come to Japan!
I sneak into these events
I regularly go to Cosplay Mania and was at Cosplay Carnival last month. I saw Akari Akase and Shuka Saito.
They used to be fun but now its overcrowded. Anime annoucements dont matter anymore since you cam watch trailers online. The artist alley stuff might make it worth it, and it might just be a good time waster with friends
