JOJOLION

Just finished reading Jojolion so I wanna talk about it.

Went in completely blind, only heard vague discourse of people hating the ending. I'd previously read up to Vit C but that was years ago...
Personally I really liked it, easily one of my favorite Jojo parts. All the fights were exciting and I liked just how "intertwined" everything felt.

The ending fight with Kaato was kickass. Loved her being the one to really kill Toru
Even if Araki really wanted it to be Josuke with that last chapter lmao

The lioness herself
Damn I love the angry "hurt my child and I'll slaughter you" mom archetype

Something that bugged me was that the Higashikatas except for like Jobin (kinda), Kaato, and Hato were all psychopaths/sociopaths. Like, remember when Norisuke was perfectly fine with Josuke being a mindbroken sex slave for his teenage daughter? And then it's never addressed after the fact? Was really fucking weird.

just

why is unc blogposting on a tranime website

I jerked off to that panel when she was taking her clothes off truth be told

Honestly this made it hard for me to care about the Higashikatas in any meaningful way. So the heart of the story for me was Holy but you never got any resolution so it kinda stung. Still think it was a good part though.

Jobin isn't a psycho he's a spoiled brat with antisocial behavior to a comedic level

Oh you poor soul... Liking Jojolion is looked down upon here.

Yeah, that's bait.

Don't act like Vitamin C wasn't an awesome fight man.
I loved most the fights in Part 8 because most of them felt like weird puzzles to be solved, and the strangely low-power nature of the stands and the more subdued setting to be really interesting.

Writing for sloppy near the end but it was fine overall

Yeh, despite everything I still like jojolion

It's a good journey. People were seething because Araki tossed some hints of there being bigger things going on, but was really just making up things as it was going.

The finale reeked of him being told to wrap things up already. There wasn't much build up to the final fight and Josuke had to make an asspull to beat calamity.

After vitamine C this shit went to ass. No real story progression and it just randomly ends. Also Jobin got done dirty. He should have been the main baddie not fucking Tooru.

jojolion is alright. i enjoy it but idk, wonder of u was kinda lame and i think it works better in theory and araki had no idea what to do with it

I think Josuke's desperate search for an identity than settling into one was really compelling. I personally also really liked the Higashikatas, Joshuu being introduced trying to murder Josuke, then being a commentator for Josuke and Jobin's weird beetle fights is really funny to me.

What did you think of the Joshu bullying?

That's pretty normal, to be fair.
Characters being introduced as villains (and Araki loves making villains sickos) and then becoming friends.
I think part 9 handles this pretty well with Charmingman, with the cat murdering thing being a fakeout, so his turn to good guy wasn't as jarring. Ironically, part 9 has the most morally gray MC who would probably be the least inclined to see killing small animals as a dealbreaker for a friend.

The Higas were clearly setup to be a least little more villainous and have a dark secret early on and Araki changed his mind. There mystery up the stairs added nothing and there was no reason for Norisuke to plot against Josuke.

Kaato is totally unhinged too. What do you mean?

Who was the flashback man? Don’t give me the cope that he was Damo

it was me sorry

where did the joestar bloodline go wrong?

It was Ojiro from a few days before we first saw him.
He heard there was an explosion at the beach, hoped it was Kira, then he saw some passed out naked rando, and went home furious.
Then, he saved his head and put his plan to frame Kira into motion.

This means you have taste. Just a friendly reminder that contrarians are always correct.

Patrician taste

Yeah Kaato is one of the craziest

I GUESS I'LL NEVER KNOW THE REASON WHY

YOU LOVE ME AS YOU DO

THAT'S THE WONDER

THE WONDER OF YOU

will be revealed in part 9 trust

People that read JoJolion after it finished tend to like it more then those who read it month to month from what I've seen. I just wonder how the storytime will react to it

Best Jojo part is followed by the worst part

Steel Ball Run was lightning in a bottle

Jojolion was a story about breaking a curse

part 8.png - 1118x1226, 72.92K

Some tourist that accidentally made eye contact with Josuke and scurried off afterward

Tooru's original design

I am in a simple place.
I love most of the battles, the only one that I didn't like was Paper Moon King, Ozone baby is one of my favorite fights in all of Jojo.
But what kills Jojolion is also what makes it great, all those amazing elements and set ups that ended up going nowhere.
And personally for me I hated Kaato's involvement in the ending, because not only We have Tooru as an already underdeveloped character but now we also get Kaato to kill him when she is also super underdeveloped.
Fucking anyone would have been a better choice, even Joshu.
Her, Karera's entire arc, Rai, and the Qin dynasty rock insect arc, could be taken out of the story to give space for actual important stuff

After vitamine C this shit went to ass.

coincidentally that's when araki lost his old editor and got his current one, and he hasn't written anything worth reading since then.

Jojolion is probably my favorite part despite its flaws.
Araki might've fucked up on a lot of the dropped plot points but it almost adds to the surreal, stream of consciousness, psychedelic and dare I say bizarre atmosphere compared to the other parts that's really special.
Also has my favorite mc stand introduction, easily. Something really out there about the mystery fight against a guy upstairs with a naked woman upstairs where nobody has any idea what's going on. Taking inspiration from eroticism was a really cool piece of Araki's writing which sort of went away (molestation doesn't count), but I really liked the visual references to Magritte with WoU.
I think Wonder of U was a little bit of missed potential, I was completely on board until the resolution - the part where Josuke decides to stop at the hospital with no intention to fight him was ABSOLUTE GOLD (him stanced up waiting for him was fuckin awesome) but unfortunately it got resolved with some asspull powerup. I would've liked to see how Araki would write himself out of a corner by having Josuke beat him with no actual intention to pursue. No clue how he would've done it, but Araki excels with that sort of shit.
Damo was kino
Jobin would've made a better main villain, or at the very least deserved a final fight, I'm not too passionate about that take.
The stream of consciousness style of writing just sort of failed with Tooru. If he planned it from the start, I bet Araki could've really had fun with that idea. Kaato beating him was awesome, I enjoyed that as I was reading monthly but I'm not gonna pretend the "only two chapters left!" announcement was pretty harsh. Could've done more with her, and the whole family for that matter.
All in all, I think SBR is objectively his best written part but Jojolion really had the potential to top it for a while there.

had to retype this bullshit cuz of the email verification DOGSHIT

Those who hated the ending of this Part in particular were mostly Zoomer tourists expecting brainrot and flashing shit.

maid shows up and dies instantly for no fucking reason

tooru's motivation revealed to be "idk man i want money lol"

kaato shows up after being a non-entity in the entire part and kills the big bad

then josuke randomly goes actually i randomly have a new power. go beyond

then instead of tying up loose ends we get two fucking chapters of "THE SPOOKY GUARD RAIL"

josuke decides he doesn't give a fuck about curing holy anymore, so the whole fucking thing was pointless anyway

"choose the cake josuke"

it was bad dude

Jojolion easily takes the crown of the worst Jojo part so I'm just going to call you a faggot and leave.

Jojolion isn't the worst part imo but it's the part with the most wasted potential.

the artstyle is too faggy for me
JoJo ended with SBR

I disagree but thats completely fair.
