So I'm guessing Nice killed himself because the original Moon was murdered, and they had a lookalike take her place like what happened with the MC.
To Be Hero X
bumping because new episode is out but my DL isn't ready yet
This show is fucking amazing why the hell is no one talking about it, also am I missing anything by not watching this in Chinese
Were there threads here about this show? I binged it recently, it was really really good.
What in the goddamn is China smoking man this shit looks like a movie
This is so fucking unexplained, was it a prank?
Seriously, how is the animation this good? It's also rumored to be 2-cour (which would explain why we spent 2 episodes on just the first guy so far).
This shit feels like it must be some government project with how much it's got going on. Absolutely wild that it's tied to fucking To Be Hero, a full on shitpost of a comedy.
I actually binged through To Be Hero and To Be Heroine this week to see if there was any connection at all and now I'm gonna be suspect of fucking everything in To Be Hero X.
I swear, if Miss J turns out to be Futaba from Heroine or some shit I'm gonna flip.
Probably cosmic nonsense fucking with Lin/giving him a future vision
What'd you think of Heroine? I remember liking Hero when it aired but skipped over Heroine.
Give it a shot, it's actually surprisingly gripping.
It's practically 2 different shows with how much it changes up past the halfway point. Starts off as more of an introspective weird thing similar to To Be Hero, but after Episode 4 it becomes an honestly shocking bit of drama until the last episode Deus Ex Machina's (in an at least somewhat forgivable way) the conflict out.
Animation wise it ranges from good fun stuff to gorgeous moments.
Also I didn't expect it to tie into To Be Hero as much as it did, but it does and I think that was a good choice. Min-Chan and her dad are actually well used side characters to the story without overshadowing the main characters.
Way I'd put it is this:
To Be Hero is a joke concept executed as a joke until it gets kinda sweet at the very end, with some really goofy but enjoyable animation
To Be Heroine is a joke concept executed seriously that becomes super interesting near the end, with good to great animation
To Be Hero X (so far) is a serious concept executed seriously with constantly great animation
I completely forgot I watched these shows until you reminded me of their existence. Not that I really remember anything from them but I had no idea they were related to this.
Yeah, it's not clear yet how/if there'll be direct connections.
To Be Hero X is being directed and written by the same guy though, Li Haoling. And Studio LAN which did the previous two is one of the multiple studios doing this series.
Could be that there's no direct connection beyond being about super heroes built on the hopes/ideas of others.
But I could see them doing a twist reveal that one of the main heroes we focus on this series turns out to be one of the group from Heroine or something.
Hell, X (the one in all the marketing) could very well be the glasses one from Heroine. He did end Heroine saying he wants to become strong enough to protect everyone.
this episode feels like it was written by a toddler
How so
Saw ep 1 and it was brettygood. Interesting styles.
no narrative cohesion
Your brain is what lacks cohesion.
uh oh anon is mad because someone insulted his favorite chinese cartoon
You are genuinely retarded if the plot of this episode was beyond your ability to comprehend.
what exactly do you think narrative cohesion means you absolute ESL moron
They clearly are going for something where every character has a different visual style when it goes 2D.
Nice/Linling's style is the heavy lined stuff. The boss from episode 1 had a more stylized black and white thing. Moon this episode had a sketchy pastel style.
Can't wait to see what the others get. The Dog will probably be some old timey film noir look. Hope the idol just goes full on Love Live.
also am I missing anything by not watching this in Chinese
I did notice this episode that there was one subbed line while nobody was talking.
muh ESL buzzword
You will never not be a retard for failing to understand the plot of a chinese cartoon and blaming it on the show for "lacking narrative cohesion"
I thought it was just a cheap cliffhanger they backpedaled out of, but your explanations make more sense.
Why is everyone so fucking spastic? Why is this show constantly running at 2.5x speed? Do the Chinese all have ADHD? Look at the scene pacing compared to actual anime, everyone's on fucking crack.
Enough of boring Nice.
Give me the Dog Detective episodes.
Go back to watching one piece.
What do you mean? During the action it's a bit fast, but the bits of them in the room together were nice and slowed down.
I mean nothing flows logically, simple dialogue lines are just dropped then people start spazzing out immediately. No scene has any room to breathe at all. The gesticulations are so exaggerated and ridiculous, like Pixar or those Overwatch mini movies. Exactly like I said, everyone's on crack. I'm not even talking about the action scenes.
I mean, do you have some examples, cause I'm not seeing that?
There's a lot of secondary motion to the movements for sure, but that's necessary in 3D animation. Like you said, Pixar/Overwatch. The reason they do that is because when you have 3D models that don't have that much secondary movement, it comes off stilted. But I haven't seen anything so far that felt going too far (like Zenless Zone Zero style jiggling/breaking of stuff constantly).
I also noticed they called Wreck "KING DESTRUCTION" in English in the JP dub, I wonder if it's still Wreck in CN
Yeah, I don't get why some names are different while others aren't.
To Be Heroine did that too. Min-chan is just Min-chan in both To Be Hero and To Be Heroine, but then you got Futaba Hanaya vs Yuye Hua for To Be Heroine. That one was extra weird since they for some reason did only a Japanese dub while in the weird other world and kept it Chinese for the rest.
Your superpowers come from your Social Credit Score (Trust Value)
Corporations own your entire life including who your friends/enemies are and who you fuck
Plastic surgery and camera tricks means you're easily replaceable at any time
Everything is scripted, nothing is real
I guess their society inherently understands dystopian settings
Oh, so you're just one of those
Good animation... BAD!
retards.
Hopefully the others aren't so on the nose with it. We got like 9+ other heroes to get to. Really wondering what the overall structure they'll go with is, especially since it seems the point is that there'll be some kind of competition for the top spot going on later.
Do like the diversity of the powers so far though. A travel blogger gaining the power to teleport is a cute idea.
For me, it's the dog. Only scheduled for one episode unfortunately and it's later down the road.
Can you post the rest of the splash art pls
They're on the site. They count 10-1. Nice is #10.
E-Soul is #9. Ahu () is #8.
Lucky Cyan, #7
#6 is literally called "Loli". Looks like a moe Iron Man.
tfw i thought this show was based on another chink gacha because of this art
"The Johnnies", #5
Same. It really feels like some gacha concept. Makes me wonder if they'll actually address that at some point.
Ghostblade, #4.
Dragon Boy, #3
God I hope this guy isn't as obnoxious as he looks.
Queen, #2
And lastly, the titular "X", #1 Hero
I hate to use a zoomerism but this man is the definition of "aura farming"
What about these guys?
Oh shit that's actually a fucking genius theory how did you come up with that wtf
That's a given since he's supposed to be #1. Power seems to literally just be reality warping with a snap of his fingers.

No clue. The series as a whole is interesting to see play out. They put out a ton of preview stuff over the year since it was announced but the show itself wound up very different from what was depicted.
For example, here's Nice's character video (they all got them). Given what we see in it (Nice fighting Wreck and some sad stuff with Moon), it's kinda hard to tell how much is meant to be PR and how much is meant to be referential to the show we got more.

I don't know why but I thought Nice was a big deal, turns out he's nothing special among heroes.
Am I supposed to be watching this in Chinese or Japanese? I saw the first episode in Japanese but was thinking I can switch if it's chiefly a Chinese production.
I don't know why
Because he's the main focus for now
Yeah, but I got the impression he was big, powerful and famous and he's like the lowest ranked baby of the whole cast.
including a literal dog btw
To be fair it is a pretty cool dog
Watch it dubbed in chinese or your native language.
But he is a big deal, he's ranked #10 out of all heroes.

I remember seeing this PV months ago and thought Nice was from space or something and the guy he's fighting was jealous that he got the girl so he'd fight Nice out of jealousy, now the biggest twist ended up being that he's a massive homo for Nice and that this PV is likely one of their old scripted fights
Sounds like 9 other people are actually a big deal.
This is my first thread on this didn't realise there were things before it, and I like shitpost comedies I'll check them out.
I think the synopsis for this show really did it no favours by focusing on the tournament, a lot of potential audiences eyes must have glazed over

Ishura bros...
Why did you post the JP trailers, the CN character trailers actually have dialogue
youtube.com
Wait is to be hero not Chinese like to be hero X is or do I need to dig a little to find original audio?
Damn this is way better than I expected, I kneel to the chinks. Can't wait for more
