Jojo Steel Ball Run

Whats your favorite and least favourite art style of Arakis?
My favourite is for sure late part 7 to early part 8. I love the noses so much.
My least favourite is for sure part 5s, I just don't like how thin and small everyone was nor the pointy noses and weird heavy black shading.

His art peaked in either late Part 3 or mid Part 6.

mid part 4 and early-mid part 6 are the best

Holy shit taste

He peaked here

david production please let jhonny and gyro have their voices from All Star Battle and Eyes of Heaven be the ones from the anime too please

Never realized how drastically Part 3 changed.
Anyways, favorites are middle of Part 7 and late Part 2. Least favorite are late Part 8 and early Part 4.

3 and 6 both look good as fuck.
Late 3 is basically perfection.
The only flaw in late 6, that I don't love it totally, is that Jolyne gets a Chad jawline, that makes her look a bit off in some angles.

Does Jojolands look distinct from jojolion yet?
Also I think early part 4 looks the most wonky and late part 6 looks the best.

late P3 and mid P4 are my personal faves

Jojolands has a few things but it's pretty similar to late part 8 with the big round eyes and small ball noses with no defined bridge.

favorite

Late Part 3.

least favourite

Late Part 8.

Early 1
Late 2
Late 3
Mid 4
Late 5
Mid 6
Mid 7
Early 8
Some styles also just work better for different parts and that was a factor in which ones I thought worked the best.
I think late 3 is damn near perfect and Araki at his peak, but I don't like early 4 despite it being so similar because SDC and DIU are such different stories.

My favorite definitely are late part 3, early part 4, late part 7, early part 8
The worst his art has been was with late part 8 and currently in part 9

When can we expect more news for Steel Ball Run anime?

here's for another weekend missing the storytime

Magnificent. I agree.

For part 1 we had a reveal teaser in a conference in July 5th then a key visual and cast reveal and release date July 19th in the Ultra Jump Issue.

For part 3 we got a reveal teaser and staff reveal in an event in October 18th and a release date reveal on Ultra Jump on November 18th.

For part 4 we got a teaser reveal in a event in October 24th. On web we got a staff reveal, cast reveal, key visual and a second teaser that doesn't adapt anything in the 17th of November.

For part 5 we got a trademark in January 11th. We got a reveal with a key visual in an event in June 21st. We then got an animated teaser, cast reveal and staff reveal in another event in July 5th.

For part 6 we got a really cheap animated teaser reveal and Jolyne's VA reveal in an event in April 4th. In August 8th we got a cast reveal, staff reveal, trailer and a reveal that the show would release on December on Netflix as a batch, all of that in a livestream.

The trailer's dates reminded me, do people still pretend the different universe after part 6 wasn't created due to part 6 ending literally creating an altered version of the universe here?

Araki has stated the Ireneverse is not the SBRverse. If you mean the Qniverse, based on what Pucci says and the Ireneverse, it was "created" but the file wasn't "saved"

Araki has stated the Ireneverse is not the SBRverse

Post it.

It will be retconned to be the ireneverse i know it

I'm hoping tha this will be like part 5 and after the exhibition ends in April 24th they reveal another event that reveals the rest of the info, rather than part 6 where we get multiple months of nothing.

Not sure how anyone could think SBRverse is the same as the Ireneverse, especially now after Jojolion clarified that the Kujos in the SBRverse are actually the Kiras.

Mid part 1
Early part 2
Late part 3
Early part 4
Late part 5
Late part 6
Mid part 7
Early part 8

:d4c: Has to be top 5 emojis. His ears are so fucking long

Implying Araki gives a fuck about continuity

Id be surprised if he even members part 6 ending

Irene was never called Kujo, anon.

Are you planning on doing it for the next parts too?

4 felt like a good limit on FABULOUS shit. It was there but it wasn't overwhelming like it got later.

Irene implying Jotaro exists when SBRverse Jotaro is Yoshikage Kira would be an immense fuck up that I have trouble imagining even old man Araki even doing.

For reference, here's what Araki said

The town of Morio-cho appears in Parts 4 and 8, but they’re in parallel worlds, so they aren’t linked in time or space. The two Josukes would never meet each other normally.

SBRverse =/= OGverse

Josefumi is Jotaros cousin on his dad's side.

i think the worst part about TJL rohan is the subtle rohanwank that's only been clarified with Acca's backstory.

the subtle rohanwank that's only been clarified with Acca's backstory.

Care to elaborate on how those 2 are related?

In an interview for JOJOVELLER, Tomoyuki Shima recalls asking Hirohiko Araki about Stone Ocean's relation to Steel Ball Run, to which Araki replied, "[Part 6 is] just one of the many Stone Oceans."
This content comes from JoJo's Bizarre Encyclopedia (jojowiki.com), and must be attributed to its authors if you are using it on another wiki or web page, as specified in the license.

Irene could simply being a bastard someone adopted tho
I mean Josefumi is already implied to be a bastard of Josefu somehow

SBR will burn me out with emojis but someone has pledged to step up I'll probably just shitpost about calamity and 89 and pursuing

Acca owns the land the lava rocks are on

he understands their importance because his grandfather taught him about them

has been implied to be searching for them for a while after the last ones he had crumbled

rohan loiters on the edge of his property for two weeks and finds two lava rocks by throwing down a couple dollar bills

I overslept and missed winter catfish posting

FUCK

The line about Irene getting approval from her father for the wedding is very clearly meant to imply that the Jotaro of the Ireneverse has a closer relationship with his family since Pucci wasn't pursuing him constantly for two decades.
That line doesn't work as a payoff for Jolyne's relationship with her father if it isn't literally Jotaro Kujo she's talking about.

that's a nice headcanon but

Irene could simply being a bastard someone adopted

troll logic

I’m not really feeling 8 and 9. Maybe it’s because the style is radically different compared to earlier parts.

JOJOVELLER, Tomoyuki Shima

He has some good lines in his interview.

Also, for some reason, Father Pucci's lines are conveyed in Araki's own voice. "Don't act on cheap emotions!" and other lines make me feel tense.

--If you read Father Pucci's lines, you might see the darker side of the sensei.

Araki does seem to use Pucci as a mouthpiece for his more nasty concepts of Fate and the human condition. More than most other characters in the series.

Mid part 7 is my favorite

Close to the edge.

Chain by Fleetwood Mac

Reading up on why Wekapipo’s sister’s husband is a big meme in Japan and I can now understand. This is the first sentence of his Nico Nico Wiki page

Wekapipo's sister's husband is Wekapipo's sister's husband.

Wow stop the presses.

Late part 4 through mid part 6, though the color manga giorno examples in the OP pic look worse then most of his stuff from part 5 actually does

Your wish is granted, Johnny will be voiced by Jonathan and Gyro will be voiced by Caesar.

remove Johnny's star pants so he's easier to animate

make his loose shirt skin tight and add a mesh (?) patch for some reason to make things more difficult

also abs because ??

I don't understand the logic here

Also did a quick edit without the lipstick. I think it looks a little better than with lipstick, at least with this pallet I made.
I don't really get it either. I think the grey spot on his stomach is suppose to be some type of shading akin to Part 3, but it looks odd. Also DP tends to make the JoJos buffer after Part 4. They made Giorno fucking shredded, which was pretty funny.

Why are Josefumi's eyes fucked up?

Are there any other Japanese-only Jojo memes? I know the guy that first infodumps us about Kira is also popular over there.

Golden Wind and it's consequences have been a disaster for the Jojo anime's artstyle.

they want to keep the well-known gains of the franchise even if JJBA boys are not as beefy anymore, they sacrifice the fem so they still have the trademark "homoerotic gymbros doing bizarre shit"
Case in point: look at narancia and giorno

It seems the gyros line about the detour being the shortcut is also a meme since I see them referencing it all over the comments of the announcement.

This happened to Doppio too but I prefer him looking slightly older and more masculine in the anime.

And the soundtrack.
I guarantee that Johnny's these will have a retard shouting "JOJO STEEL BALL RUN".

Isn't it because the line is

a detour was our shortest path, our shortest path was a detour

which I guess sounds more repetitive in nip.

they should get a shirley bassey song for the ED

Valentine is going to be a trainwreck.

late p3 is the best of buff jojo

mid p7 is the best of lean jojo

We have that here too.

they want to keep the well-known gains of the franchise

Might as well have gone all out and make them look like Parts 1-3 musclemen, but then again, I guess they needed to keep them lean for the sake of fujos.

Peaked in SBR

I find it especially jarring here since Johnny's disabled. Yeah, his upper body would be in good shape realistically, but there's a reason Araki gave him abs pre-injury and then removed them post-injury, Johnny would probably be softer from the waist down. You can't really do ab crunches when you don't have the equilibrium or use of legs to ground you.

The last few volumes are gonna dwarf the rest of them

I don't think any of the art styles the anime has done has ever looked good. They're either too different from the source material or they put too much detail into the faces that end up making it look really ugly at times. I also don't buy into the idea of Araki's art style being "too difficult" to capture in animation, because I think it's feasible. DaivdPro just flips between not bothering to or making it more complex looking than needed. Funnily enough, the only time I think the anime has ever gotten close enough to Araki's art style wasn't even the anime itself, but the openings done by Kamikaze Douga. Granted, 3D models can afford to have the extra details put on them, but even if you simplified the shading, it would still look fairly accurate to the art style, especially in terms of the faces.

As much of a meme as “Le buff man” are, I love modern artstyle because the Jojo actually look their age. Jotaro cameo in VA was an example, he actually look like a Highschool delinquent, not a big one for sure, but still intimidating, and look like an actual fucking highschooler
The entire cast of VA actually got beefed up compare to the manga

Part 3 as a whole

Nice work, dig the colors you chose

"Pucci literally created the SBRverse"
t.DavidPro

It isn't a meme.
Them being buff is cool as hell.

Something is so off about them. Maybe it's the stupid shading DP usually doe that makes skin and clothing appear shrink-wrapped on bodies. Also Johnny's ass should be half moon out with how low those pants ride.

you should add an emoji counter too

There's currently a whole thread for that
youtu.be/edwk-8KJ1Js

Why does the art Araki did for the reveal look better than JoJoLands?

I can’t tell the difference but both look good to me.

I’m honestly surprised he hasn’t made a Daft Punk stand, weren’t they extremely popular in Japan?

Chocolate Disco is stuck in my head

They already look like stands so he probably thinks it's too easy

Yup. These are our heroes.

Depends on the era of daft punk. If you on 2001 onwards then yeah but if you do 1997 to 2000 completely different

Part 4 was his best work, all of it.

Will this month's TSRK be supplementary to part 9 or am I being too hopeful ?

Given that it's going to be posted on a WB channel, yes but after a year...SO opening got 30+mil in 3 years and this fanmade gor half of that in 3 years...so im going to say when they reveal the official opening, it will surpass Holy Steel around 2029 (given if SBR releases in around late 2026/early2027)

lmao

Thank you for your services...only 6 more volumes to go...how bad can it get?

Storytime threads have inspired me to schizobabble with a stern face.
