Eh, I like it. Since Awakening is actually a thing in MHA, him slowly building up to that insane level of speed kind of works in my opinion. He's got enough juice to slug with a giant by the end, and he can shoot that from any point on his body, naturally if he used that to accelerate he'd be more like a bullet than a person.
I think the only issue is that we never got enough pre-timeskip moments of Koichi displaying how fast he is, or at least how fast he could be with the right pressure.
