I am finally done and man do I have things to say about this show. I liked it it's a fun watch all in all but the ending didn't feel good at all and many aspects of the writing are unpolished.

Phil and Jack never talk shit out in the one year they shared (wtf) they don't even get a nice reunion scene that involves Jack being happy he's reunited with his family. Phil dies a martyr and a dindu (why? It would have been fine to make him a little gray and that just makes Jack even worse) while Jack remains a complete prick, unaware he's sending a mostly innocent childhood friend to the gallows but acting like a hero for it, and proceeds to ruin Bob for moonies because he can't stand them idolizing the murderer of his parents, doesn't even mention Phil's name. Also the show tried to make it less awful than it is by implying Phil is alive, but nah, fuck Jack and fuck everything he stands for. Even at the very end he's still an arrogant, ignorant frat boy who makes it all about himself.
Maria randomly becomes a Mcguffin mid point (why? It's so forced, he was already relevant just by being herself, her personality and her ties to the cast ensured that) and Rhys tries to kill her for half the show but we're supposed to cheer when she finally decides not to be a fucking psycho. No, fuck you. This is the bare minimum for a sound human being. Bonus points for Sapientia breaking her arm to do it anyways though, that was kino. I don't know, while I loved the nakama scenes this show really sucks at depicting some relationships. And it's usually the ones it chooses to focus on too. The first half of the show is nothing but Rhys and Jack fighting and it's the least interesting, most redundant thing I have ever seen.

I enjoyed my time with the show but honestly kind of wish I stopped before the end. Not to mention one of the most interesting developments happens right at the end and all we get about it is some text. You may tell me "yes but it's the same in Terra E" well, you're correct, but the destruction of the AI felt a lot more meaningful because it was the Rhys of that universe who sacrificed himself to enact it after allying with the second protag.
I still don't understand how the moonies are the best characters but when the MC does join them he behaves like a turd floating in the water waiting to be flushed. His earthian friends are so much more bland yet the dynamic was great. Now that I think about it the first half of the show is good because the crew dynamic is exceptional. Yet the only thing left of it by the 2nd half is Towan. Towan is everything. Love her. And now that I think about it neither Georg nor Rhys even apologized to her or to Maria for being huge pieces of shit.
Anyways, watch this show for the sf fantasy, the shonenshit, and the crew scenes. Don't expect anything good romantically or SF wise, aside from the production value, which is great.
Watch or read Terra E instead, they do everything this show tried to do better, albeit gayer, with less fancy action, and a lot more 70s psychic bullshit.

As someone who fell for it I'm not too mad because I got to watch a pretty ok SF shonen like show with interesting girls who aren't wallflowers (kinda rare, also, MOMMY) but yeah it makes you wonder what the fuck they were thinking. They're neither Trigun Stampede nor Terra E, no matter how much they might wish they were. For most of the show it doesn't even feel like Jack loves Phil at all, the most he does is not rat his ass at the begining but then he does as soon as he doesn't need him around to lead the rebellion anymore. And the unbalance is not even hot because Jack doesn't even realize he's a huge prick, he thinks he's the good guy the whole show. So basically whether they're related or not is ambiguous and one of them is too tied up in his own misery to care while the other is a love martyr. I don't think they could have made a more disappointing incest bait if they had tried. I mean we had canon yandere Millions Knives for his twin just last year. Step it up show.
Also this is more of a plot thing but now that I think about it, Phil giving Jack his arm didn't matter one bit in the end even though I kept expecting it would. Unless Phil is playing Pokemon Go through his left arm.
