Satisfying yuri payoffs in anime and manga. Wish they would do another season just to watch this animated.
Satisfying yuri payoffs in anime and manga. Wish they would do another season just to watch this animated
Which pipeline did you take, Anon Babble?
Have they done it yet?
To liking yuri? The second seasonal anime I ever watched when I was a teenager was inugami san to nekoyama san and I've been in love with the concept of girl's love ever since. I was a patrician from the start.
i watched yagakimi on a flight one day and i've been hooked ever since
My first anime was Love Live Sunshine
The Xena route
battle shonen
battle harems
all girls action
action with heavy yuri subtext
yuri romance
Something like that over the course of a decade. I still prefer mixing genres over vanilla high school romance but I've mostly stopped with manga or anime that aren't yuri. I was never really against yuri. However I thought I didn't like romance since it was always so shallow. But female protags were less template and had more going on so I gravitated that way. Eventually it all clicked that yuri writers generally respected their characters more, were less afraid of breaking molds, and knew how to write real chemistry.
I want to punch Hogetsu's fat face
Yuri is niche, and its profit margin is usually rather thin, so quite often, knowing their work is going to get axed in like 2 volumes, yuri authors are quite passionate and bold in their approach to storytelling. Even when it's a comfy romance manga with little to no drama, you can tell how much the author enjoyed writing it, and how much they love their characters.
fish
I kinda dislike yuri as I've never read a manga about some other thing, then it introduces lesbians and it feels like genuine exploration of lesbian relationships. It feels like cheap drama because the author has nothing else more interesting to say.
Nice try, misinfo schizoid
She gets a piece in like every volume
Mai will marry this one day
Mai is so lucky...

ojisan rape = best porn

Satsuki belongs to herself and no one else.
Shut up, Satsuki. We know it's you. Now kiss the Kaho already.
next chapter when?
Pic unrelated? The yuri arc hasn't ended yet. Also, aren't they like 13 or something?
The "first" anime/manga stuff I watched/read was stuff like conan/shin-chan that my mom had when I was a kid. Also read the Battle Royale manga at a high schooler friend's house when I was 13 (We shared the same bus), but it still wasn't something I'd have called a hobby.
First "real" (AKA, of my own volition after I had achieved sapience rather than the half-hearted sentience of a child) anime was Death Note because a friend recommended it to me, so I watched it at his house. He ended up falling asleep partway through, but I was absolutely hooked and binged it. Then I watched the usual popular shit like SAO/Black Butler.
It's also around this time that I started using the site and branching out from my gateway board Anon Babble into Anon Babble (It was a lot different back then). I actually didn't use Anon Babble until I was already a pretty seasoned anime connoisseur.
So then I specifically watched Anon Babble recommendations; notably Noir. I didn't know it at the time, but the thrilling yuri love triangle that made my kokoro go doki doki was already pulling me into the yuri swamp. So I was on board pretty early, really.
After that, I continued my Anon Babble anime binge which naturally included stuff like Gunslinger Girl, Girls und Panzer, and Sora no Woto which lead me to CGDCT. And, well, CGDCT is basically the last stop before yuri enlightenment. At some point years ago, I watched Yuru Yuri, Sakura Trick, and Citrus; there was no going back from there. I bought a cheap refurbished kindle a few years back after getting sick of reading off a monitor and I've been reading all the yuri LNs I can get my hands on ever since.
I love yuri.
On volume 10 of gabriel dropout. It certainly took some time, but damn, this series get saucy.
Sakine...
Is this actually decent yuri? I heard they never actually kissed?
The author has been teasing the kiss for ages, but hasn't actually delivered anything
Miki won
Impatient dumbasses should stick to volume releases.
I would reframe that as: no yuri mangaka got into it for the money. They all recognize it's unstable and stand a better shot writing anything else. Yuri is for those passionate about the story they're telling. And partly because it's so niche there's less obligation to pander. Characters are allowed to be deeply flawed, hurt each other, violate the norms that stranglehold straight relationships in otaku media, and ultimately remain equals rather than one revolving around the other emotionally, aspirationally, and morally. It's a breath of fresh air. Love's beautiful when it's got a bit of ugly to it.
Not that yuri doesn't have its own sacrosanct rules but they're few and glaring. When a mangaka breaks them it's like doing a 90 degree turn on a busy highway. Otherwise yurifags tend to be quite forgiving and openminded. And not that pure fluff is bad but it doesn't really exhibit the genre's full potential in my eyes. It's simply obeying the natural law that two cute girls equals double cute.
It's all so gay all the time now. Even in Harems the girls are all gay for each other now. You guys have too much power.
Hoshikawa Ginza District 4 -> yuri serializations -> yuri oneshots on Dynasty -> yuri isekais -> yuri novels
Yes I read Shuukura
no yuri mangaka got into it for the money
Yeah, that's the point I was making.
sacrosanct rules
The biggest rule is no het between the yuri characters. This doesn't mean bi girls are excluded from yuri, but if a dude gets in between the yuri for no good reason, even if it's rarer these days, it's a red line that should never be crossed. I think most people are fine with het side couple, but they mustn't overshadow the main.
For example, Alcohol and Ogre Girl, people hate the recent chapter (you know the one) because the yuri characters barely had any intimate time together recently because of the arcs, and then dropped a fucking het flashback out of nowhere, of course people would be disappointed. It's not the het that's the problem, it's the presentation.
