Honestly the best Reiwa series overall so far. HG, DP, and Wonderful all have their high points but round out to be seasons that are just pretty solid, HS isn't the worst season but it's overall bad, and while TR's pretty great, I do like Kimi to Idol signficantly more, at least so far.
Kimi to Idol has a pretty good chance of being in my personal top 10 if it keeps up the momentum (about Fresh tier). I don't think it'll reach top 5, but that can't be helped. It would have to beat Go Pri or Splash Star for that, and that's a tall order.

Yeah, I'd say Ciel and Akira are somewhat lacking, but Iroha's really bad. Satoru was the only reason the Special Wonderful episode were great, and it's not even like I'm particularly fond of Satoru.
Haruka’s character arc consists of her deconstructing the idea she had of what a princess was that she got from that book and finding what it really meant for her. Princess in the context of GoPri is more of a state of being than an actual political position, like how most little girls are shown the concept of a princess.
The duality of 強く優しく美しく vs 気高く尊く麗しく values was fine enough on its own, but had absolutely fuck all to do with "princess" itself. Only トワ laid rightful claim to the title of royalty, while Haruka exemplified exactly NONE of the things that made up their fanfiction definition of princess. I get that these shows need to make sure your imouto believes she can be whatever she wants to be but in the long run Haruka's one (1) demonstration of anything bearing semblance to a royalty factor also made the ending extremely anticlimactic and boring, which I cannot abide.

Yukari in particular is unique enough that she has a schizo here. Akira being the most masculine Cure helps her stand out. Even Ciel worked really well as a comedy protagonist in the movie.
I can't help but think I have similar issues with Kira Kira and Wonderful [Some great Cures but at least one Cure (Ciel and Akira for Kira and Iroha for Wonderful) that drags the whole cast down with them, and a finale that has neat ideas but could have executed them better], but the dinosaur episode and the final boss being somewhat better done in Wonderful than Kira are why I prefer Wonderful significantly more.

I'd say that Wonderful did a decent job of making Iroha and Komugi feel like siblings. Mayu and Yuki don't really feel like siblings to me since Yuki doesn't really treat Mayu's parents as her own though.

Yes and no, there wasn't enough time left in the season to give her a proper redemption and having her help against Dune would change the nature of what she was and what Dune could do. That idea is something I don't even know if a sequel season could do properly. But seeing her develop as a person and as a character is something I yearn for.

I think redeeming her is something that could've been done but I don't dislike the end result either, it's quite unique in the franchise.

I've always felt that the finale of HC kicked Yuri too hard when she was already down. HC should have spared either her dad or Dark Precure, though letting the latter get spared and become her sister would require build up that HC doesn't currently have.

I wouldn't trade her providing the most heart-wrenching and tear-jerking scene in the show for it. As much as I want to believe she wasn't all evil and that there may have been a glimmer of hope for her, it was remarkably mature for a show like this to go all the way like they did instead of half-assing and walking back on her death like you know a lesser show would have.

So this is the episode where we are introduced to the Dark princess and man she is a doozy. I do like how its always the lead cure that can never recognize a bad aura about someone. It got even weirder when Haruka couldn't even figure out the "close your heart" thing. Just a real moment where you need to reach your hands into the screen and shake the ever living shit out of them for not even thinking.

One thing I have noticed over the years in my exploration of the self and enjoyment of music I have come to find these descriptions more and more accurate to my own feeling of both playing and enjoying music. It feels weird because its such basic explanations mainly meant for children, but oddly they really do jive with my own feelings. Now kids shows like precure tend to focus on the harmonious sounds as young minds can't sit through the more chaotic and discordant sounds high level writers can produce, but the same feelings still apply, but to express darker emotions.
Sorry, but this episode really stepped into a world I highly enjoy and escape to quite often.
