Episode 1 was okay so far. It obviously didn't hit as hard as the sledgehammer that was the first episode of Yuru camp. I don't feel invested in the characters yet but I hope they grow on me as the show goes on. I don't have high hopes for the show but I'll be tuning in every week because I love Yuru Camp too much to ignore this show. That and I hope to see the eating competition.

The original plot they made with it was more interesting exploring the ideas of human creativity/imagination versus AI, a what-if future of Japan, and a bit of a cautionary tale about foreign influence over Japanese media. It could've done more, did have some loose plot threads and things that would've been nicer to see more of, but it managed to tell a pretty good story during its run.

I don't know what you mean by insisting upon itself, but what I love about Mono is that it's comfy like Yuru Camp, but in an urban setting instead of a natural setting. Yuru Camp is all about Japan's natural beauty, while Mono is clearly about comfy urban life.

It lacks the uniqueness of Rin and Nadeshiko, and the impact of the OST.
