Is there a more elegant name for the worldbuildingslop genre? Pic related

Stop it,get some help

tolkeinslop

worldbuildingslop

elaborate.

directionless story with worldbuilding elements irrelevant to its plot, themes, and characters

not OP but i think it means works that put too much focus on creating a world that's le creative but also coherent and consistent and not enough focus on writing actually interesting characters or story elements. dungeon meshi is a prime example of this.

I genuinely hate some of you people

snk-like. also nice dubs kanye.

If the world wasn't consistent you'd be bitching about that instead.

non-isekai native isekai

Kys.
MiA is world building and character kino

but whats the elegant way to call it without mentioning worldbuildingslop

"Fantasy" you fucking retard

Yeah, I think that genre is called Mushoku Tensei.

Yes, and it's called Adventure

SAO ruined it but back then, we had actual magical worlds like Inuyasha, Otogi Zoshi, Pokémon, and Samurai 7.
Each one is completely unique and was made with love

Paracosmic Fiction.

You described Overlord

Not all fantasy is explicitly Paracosmic. Oftentimes the focus will not be on building the world. Template fantasy is the most common example.
You can have adventure stories without a large focus on worldbuilding. You can have a lot of worldbuilding in a non-adventure story.

Quality thread

it is. shame about the seething wannabe janitors but you gotta have a few in any thread.

Mythopoeia or Paracosm.

"so do you like the coffee?"

"ew no wtf did you use lemon juice instead of water?"

"well if i used dirt instead of coffee you'd be bitching about that instead."

???

Grrrrr I want the next chapter so bad.

Paracosm refers to an autismverse created in childhood. An adult author intentionally setting out to create an alternative world is called a Heterocosm. More often than not, it’s Heterocosmic fiction, although there are some confirmed examples of Paracosmic fiction like One Piece or Narnia.

James Cameron’s Avatar and Tartakovsky’s Samurai Jack are both Paracosms.
MIA is likely Heterocosm.

Directionless story

The world is literally constructed to make the story like a funnel what are you talking about?

no

dungeon meshi

ok maybe i see what you mean

I don't think there's an elegant way to refer to it, but I understand what you mean rather than seething at the fact that you dared to use a buzzword.
Series that exist as a vehicle to showcase a world the author built, rather than focusing on the story, characters, themes, etc.
Maybe something like worldwanking? Something to showcase how masturbatory it is.

you can always elaborate on your thoughts instead of slinging retarded meme phrases and hoping that people understand what you mean, retard-dono.

food analogy

Not an issue.

Only the biggest midwits care about worldbuilding, you know Made in Abyss is actually good because you can ignore it and don't miss what matters.

Is this thread bait?

and don't miss what matters

If you cut out the worldbuilding all MiA has left is "loli suffering".

loli suffering".

Brigadoon proved that's all you need.

muh worldbuilding

Quintessential midwit, it was never about the world, but overwhelmingly about the characters

sf-encyclopedia.com/entry/heterocosm#:~:text=According to Brian Stableford, a,heterocosmic transgressions of God's world
Going off of this, heterocosm sounds like a west slop word assuming our reality is the center of them all and somehow special, which is really boring
If it needs a catch phrase, it should be like setting/world building porn like misery porn being a phrase, I think -slop is used more for genres rather than writing conventions

are you bait?

You should simply limit to battle shounen.

dungeon meshi is a prime example of this.
