At that point you have to intercept and poison the ingredients in between acquisition for the target (otherwise you are just poisoning random shit in the supermarket) and before the target actually gets their hands on it to cook with it. Then you have to tamper with it in such a way that it both doesn't make it obvious that you did so, and poison it with something that will survive cooking. A lot of poisons can break down under cooking, and since you don't know exactly what ingredients will be used for in advance you don't have control over quantity.
Lets say you dust a raw steak with poison and it goes undetected. She cuts it up and makes stew with it rather than eating it directly. Now your poison has been heated to boiling, slow cooked for hours, and diluted by the whole pot. There's no way she eats an entire post of stew in one sitting, so she's only getting a tiny fraction of the dose of the poison in a single bowl, likely making her sick rather than killing her. And this is the end result of a poisoning attempt that actually *worked* instead of being detected or intercepted. Couple of reasons. AGE's designs were generic and boring, whereas GQuX's designs are stylish. Second, AGE's character designs don't fit with the tone of the show. They could make it work if they used the designs to contrast the brutality or wrongness of the setting, like the original MGS (and MGS purposefully had kid-anime like designs for the era) or GQuX does to an extent, but they never do anything with that dissonance. Third, AGE is just not very good. The designs get associated with the bad plot and action. If the plot were better, people would probably like the character designs more. At least there is one good thing you can say and that's Fram was the cutest Haman clone ever.
