The whole point of the Bonfire of Dreams is Guts pointing out that every member of the Band of the Hawk was willing to pool in their dreams for Griffith's sake so that he could get them all in a position to better achieve their own dreams. Doesn't mean they didn't love Griffith and wouldn't risk their lives to save him, but most of them (apart from Guts, Casca, and maybe Judeau) didn't have a strong personal attachment to Griffith.

I think it's because of the brand that Casca's brain regressed. The Brand puts the branded person in the Interstice, or in between the physical and the astral world.
