0079 makes it clear that it's the OYW. Ordinary people on both sides, sometimes are good people, the Earth Federation is corrupt but a few good people in them to end this war. Zeon is the bad empire which originated from a neutral political entity that started the war.

Gundam generally is horny but a little different than this. Tomino romance is a bit understated compared to how loud Enokido is. It's not going to be your typical competition rote romance series, but it will be more in our face than something like Gwitch even.

It's going fast, but you have everything you need in both instances. Shiiko especially is extremely efficiently handled and pretty well rounded. While you could expand on her character or have her stick around to take her in various directions, you don't need to either.

I don't know if they will make more, but Tsurumaki always planned for GQuuuuuux to be 12 episodes long. See, souls are bound by gravity, unless they're newtypes, in which case they want to go to space which is symbolically endless freedom, but if they're forced to stay in gravity they're sad. Machu is a newtype so her soul shouldn't be bound to gravity but she lives in a tin can with fake gravity and she thinks she can go to Earth and things will be real, but her soul will just be extra-bound by gravity.

This is all, of course, because they are in a topsy turvy world where Zeon won and spacenoids want to go to Earth rather than the other way around, symbolized by Machu actually living in a topsy turvy world where space is below and city is above.
