Most familia aren’t for combat purposes or fighting monsters, I don’t think. They’re meant to resonate with the god’s goals or ideals. The god of farming isn’t going to be fighting many monsters unless they’re trying to steal their produce or something.

The outside is also quite shit in general at the moment when the story takes place, mostly because of monster attacks and apparently nobody can quite deal with it.

Some people get high levels super young because they're in familias that can basically farm experience for them, reaching a higher level faster than normies who have to do things the hard way. Quite hard. Most adventurers don't even make it to lvl 2 IIRC and hitting lvl 3 is considered exceptional already. The higher the level the harder it is to level up further as well, partly because they can't just grind out levels, they need to perform some sort of heroic deed (like fighting some very tough monster) worthy of the level. It gets harder and harder as well as more dangerous, plus the opportunities for a lvl 5, 6 or 7 adventurer to even encounter something strong enough to unlock a level up are few and far between. The characters in the story that are lvl 4+ are basically the very best, cream of the crop.
